Hi folks,

I have just become the proud owner of a 3 year old 1150GS. Apologies if I'm going over old ground or if this is another one of these "They all do it sir" answers.

When I move off in 1st gear after being stationary for a few seconds eg. at traffic lights, my bike makes a bit of a squeek followed by a very audible clunk. The noise is very like the noise you would get if you rode off with the side stand down and it then flipped up. The bike makes this noise both when hot and cold but it only does it if the bike has been stationary for a number of seconds. Please put my mind at rest.

Hi and welcome to the asylum.

Could it be the ABS setting itself? It will do this everytime you pull away from stationary.

As Martin said, it's just the ABS self check.

"Don't worry sir, they all do that" - It takes several weeks at a BMW training school to say that with confidence

These biles make lots of strange noises when your used to a Jap 4, best just to get those earplugs in properly and enjoy the ride!
