I was in the Harley dealers and he was trying to sell me a 1200 sportster with a stage 1 tune saying how super fast it was.
Which got me wondering How fast are they? And is there anything more than a stage 1 tune? Stage 2 perhaps?

It'll be faster than a superfast thing.

In fact i can't think of an adjective that would describe the superfastnessness .

It`ll be the fastest piece of agricultural machinery in the farm yard. :hide

Are you allowed to say fast and HD in the same sentence?

A HD with a Stage 1 will run a little better. Stage one (free flowing air box, mufflers, and FI adapted to take advantage of it) typically can gain you up to 15% (10% from air box and 5% from pipes). It can also allow the engine to run a bit cooler. Stage 2 adds cams which can make quite a noticeable improvement.

I bought a 1200 sportster new in 1989, fitted a pair of less restrictive silencers to it and ran it down the long Marston drag strip at the 89 harley super rally. My best time was 13 seconds with a terminal speed of 100 mph the only thing that beat me was an xr1000. Top End the bike would run to an indicated 120.

Be aware that a standard 1200 sporty only has about 70 horses out of the box, and the new fuel injected bikes don't get anything like the gains a carb model used to get :rob

Stage 1 on a Sporty will make it very noisy and a bit quicker. Stage 2 will make it vibrate like a jackhammer and stage 3 will make it spit oil all over your leg :eek
