Starcom questions??? Help please..

A few quick questions.

I've just purchased a starcom "rider/pillion" system. Having never used a system like this previously I'm interested to know whether;
a) the unit is left on the bike all year round?
b) the MP3 & phone leads are left attached to the unit or do people generally attach them each time they use the system?
c) the helmet speakers and mike are relatively easy to fit correctly (it looks simple but many users say you have to be careful with positoning these) is there a simple "foolproof" way to fit coz I don't want to attach them and find they have to be moved?

a) I leave mine on all year round, the unit is showerproof but I did find in a torrential downpour last year that it got wet under the seat of the GS, I'd suggest putting it in a plastic bag in very wet weather
b) you can leave all the leads attached when not in use but the more leads the more likely that you'll pick up interference (particularly a problem with the phone lead in my experience). I now only connect those leads that are needed although all the leads remain in situ beneath the seat.
c) not really a straight forward formula as all helmets are different but as a rule of thumb figure out where the middle of your ear is in the hemet and fit the speakers there; stick your toungue straight out of your mouth and fit the mic where it touches the chin bar. You should be able to kiss the microphone.
