There are several problems that could cause this behaviour.
The new battery could be duff, but it's unlikely. Just don't assume that new parts are always perfect.
The charging circuit could be faulty and you're not using an Optimate or similar to top up the charge overnight. This would mean that the overall level of charge in the battery is dropping every time you start it. I guess that, as you've got a 1200, you're aware that you can't just use any old charger in the accessory socket?
The connections from the battery to the earth point and the starter need to be in good condition. Check and clean both ends of all cables
The starter solenoid itself could be faulty. The tick noise is the solenoid trying to engage the starter but nothing's happening. The solenoid as an electrically controlled switch that is turned on when you apply power, so for half an amp or so through the switch under your thumb, you can control 200 amps through the starter. Sometimes a tap with the end of a spanner can help. I do mean a tap, not a wallop
There could be a problem with the starter or the wiring to the starter. Again, check the condition of all wires and connections.
Not sure if it works on bikes, but I sometimes find that rocking cars forward whilst in gear moves some of the cogs that the starter engages with, and can make the difference between the starter jamming or succeeding in turning the engine over. A brisk tap with a socket bar on the starter body can sometimes help this as well.
