Lovely jubbly, just what you need - self immolation
The 1300 seems to have moved away a little from its roots, headed towards the centre ground and become more mainstream - maybe this is necessary because of the changing demographic of motorcyclists, time will tell - however my gut tells me that it will need to undergo a few significant changes in order to stay top-dog, I will wait and see what happens.A year or 2 , well good health to you .
Sit back and watch . Some of us decide to take a chance . Life is too short and you will become awkward and Arsey god help youI’m on my 7th now and enjoying every moment even with an affair with the Red side

The sales figures will make things clearer over the next year.

The MCIA figures will reveal all in the next 6 months or so as the weather improves.Judging by the ads I get bombarded with from local dealers every week, I don’t think they are a roaring success
They have 1300’s in stock, on the floor for immediate delivery & unsold
Never seen that before from a recently launched new model GS in last 20 years
Usually a waiting list
Dealers are normally pretty good in reacting to serious issues.Dealer rang me yesterday at almost 5pm to say they'd had a quick look and indeed the starter relay had shat itself, they've raised a case with BMW so need to wait for what they come back with.
To be fair to them they've been proper "on it", I didn't expect the bike to get looked at until today given they didn't pick it up from me until gone 3.
Yeah, the bike almost setting itself ablaze definitely qualifies hahaDealers are normally pretty good in reacting to serious issues.
Let's hope it hasn't had the recall done,if it has that's a big worry!Yeah, the bike almost setting itself ablaze definitely qualifies haha

Hope it gets sorted quickly for you not a good new bike experience .
That raises more questions !. If BMW UK said it didn't need the modified relay because it had already been charged is there an issue with the replacements?.According to the dealer, on the system it shows it was checked by BMW UK and found to not need the modified relay.......![]()
Mine was checked by my local dealer in November and did have minor damage to the outer casing and so identified as requiring to be replaced, they ordered one in specific to the bike so I am told, they will fit it when the first service gets doneAccording to the dealer, on the system it shows it was checked by BMW UK and found to not need the modified relay.......![]()
Whenever I go to my dealers the youngest people there are always the staff as the customers are all the wrong side of 40. As time marches on more of those will like me become retired which if I'm anything like some sort of bell weather sales within their existing customer base are going to fall. I have no intention of paying over 20k for a bike, no natter how "good" it is, so maybe this shift is a calculated one hoping to attract more buyers away from other manufacturers knowing full well they may loose some of their existing GS customers (or like me move to a different cheaper bike within their range). The 1300 seems to have moved away a little from its roots, headed towards the centre ground and become more mainstream - maybe this is necessary because of the changing demographic of motorcyclists, time will tell - however my gut tells me that it will need to undergo a few significant changes in order to stay top-dog, I will wait and see what happens.

Hopefully the journalists test bikes were early models and the problem with the starter solenoid was rectified on all bikes off the production line after the beginning of November (think I've seen after 6th Nov ??).Both Bike and Ride magazines have had to have test bikes recovered because they have stopped. I guess I would be more than a little pi$$ed off if I had just blown £20k+ on a bike that is clearly not fit for purpose and I don’t really care how good the legendary BMW break-down and customer service is, I would at least expect it not to break down!
Oh yes, and now BMW want to charge you for a centre stand too!![]()

Hope so anyway because mine was built the last week of Nov .
Centre stand is like a lot of the other parts (electric screen, adaptive cruise etc. etc. ) optional; & chargeable like everything else these days. Some people doing more off road may not want a centre stand.
