Starter motor relay recall…

Arsey to answer your question if BMW was not able to eff up little things like that Honda would not able to sell their boring Afreeka Twins bikes to boring kunts like yourself...LOL As even BMW is not able to sell their new GS to Boxer Fanboys like myself so far with their obvious self inflicted wounds like ridiculously small tank to advertise 12 kilos less in part with lighter battery and not weighing the centerstand, rack, passenger pegs , too quiet exhaust, linked footbrake and ugly looking Harley taillight...LOL If they want me to spend more than 50% of my trade in for my 1250 they better bring some real improvement/excitement to open the wallet like I have done 19 times before on a new BMW ! Dont feel the urge ,yet as they can/have to do better ! Lets see if the ADV,S and XR version of the new Boxer delivers...

Well just had a call from the dealer, the replacement starter relay is fitted and tested and the bike will be back with me Friday after being there nearly 3 weeks. BMW have offered a pretty nice gesture of good will for the problem having occurred and the dealer has filled the tank up with fuel as well (I'm sure there's an arson joke in there somewhere lol)

That’s great news. Enjoy the new bike at last 👍👍😊

Post a picture of the back of the relay to see where our still favorite motorcycle manufacturer has its quality parts produced...LOL

Makes me wonder why these things dont happen while they are developing the bikes or if the use one on parts while they let the cheapest supplies make the stuff later and let the customers deal with it…But how things are going in EUrope lately soon all things will come from Russia anyways as it will be the only country in europe with affordable Energy to actually produce things…I wait for the new Ural M 1350 GS…🤣👍

Maybe the mother ship has adopted the same system as is found in many vehicle production facilities.
Different coloured paint pen's are used for different area's of the product,
Sub assembly area's, main line , quality control & rework department, this allows a visual inspection that that fixing has been properly touqued up .
Like the starter relay replacement once that part has been replaced it would get a dab of a different colour paint pen so further down the process the quality department can tell the rework has been done .
That's how it worked the last place I worked any way.

I suspect the blue dots were something done at the factory during build and the replacement unit having been fitted by the dealer didn’t get that same treatment for obvious reasons.

switched the bike power on today without hitting the starter, and over and above the high pitched whine I could hear a faint electrical cracking noise - is that normal ? ive had the replacement starter relay

Park it outside and leave it switched on, if doesn't set on fire its normal.

Does it stop when you just move the throttle?. (Still without the engine started & just ignition on). If so, mine does it. I've been told by dealer it's normal. Sounds like the throttle synching or something??. My old 1250gs did it but not as noticeable as on the 1300.
