Came back from Le Mans on Monday in heavy rain.

Got as far as Honfleur and on restarting I didn't need to use the start button!
As soon as i turned the key the bike just started all by itself!!

Stayed like this though a petrol stop, lunch stop, ferry crossing and now in my garage for two days.

I assume there is water in an electrical connection somewhere.

I am off to France again tonight (not on the bike thankfully) so it will have to wait for my return.

It is still in warranty but I am assuming any damage done by riding it ( is the starter constantly engaged ?) has been done so I will probably ride it to CW's.

Anyone else had this?

If you want to have a quick look yourself - the starter motor is behind the plastic housing next to the gear shifter. Its held in place with I think 2 or 3 bolts that can be undone using your OEM toolkit.

I had an issue with mine in that the starter pin wouldnt retract from the crank when engine engaged, and did this as a roadside repair. If you take the plastic panel off you'll have access to the connections, and also note that its not as waterproof as you might like to believe.

Last time I rode a dealer demonstrator it had this problem. They reckoned the fault was in the starter button. Presumably it's only annoying otherwise they wouldn't have let me out on it.

Spray your electrical controls with WD40 to displace the water from the switch. It may work.

Long term: Replace the switchgear.
