Ms Hay Ewe has a 310GS and has developed a difficulty.
Had it about a year, 2nd hand but in great condition. Rides well, looks good, no problems.
did put 10liters of fresh fuel in it.
Has been parked up for 5 weeks but started fine and ran well, for about 5miles / 8km.
I was riding it and getting along at about 80km/hr 48mph when it cut out. No lights on the dash, nothing from the Engine.
I pulled over, and did a restart, started up as normal, ran for about 10 seconds and then cut out.
mmm, odd, did it again and that is all it does.
Starts, runs for about 10 to 12 seconds and then dies.
When it runs, its fine, normal, sounds normal, revs ok, just not for very long!
Based on this, I think it is a fuel situation, because it starts, runs, sounds normal, feels normal.
Just consistently, only runs for about 10 secounds.
I opened the tank filler cap, wondering if there was a blocked breather causing a vacuum in the tank, no change, still only runs for 10 to 12 seconds.
It seems that the ignition circuit is fine, key on, fuel pump primes, then it starts.
I think that there is no signal to the fuel pump after that, and so the fuel pump is not pumping and the engine is only running on the fuel from the priming action.
I have good experience with BMW's, I have an 1150GS, 1100GS, and 1100S and have quite a deep understanding of them, not much yet.
I don't yet have much experience with this model except basic maintenance servicing.
Hoping for some clues and guidance as to where to look.
