Hi all,

Just received my new Nautilus in the post this morning and, not being an electrical genius, was wondering if it's just a direct replacement with the current horn.

Do I just disconnect the current wires and hook em on to the terminals on the Nautilus or will I need to re-wire using the relay....In which case i'll probably have to get it fitted somewhere...

All advise welcome

Next question is can I use the existing wiring and just insert the relay somewhere or is it a case of new wiring.....

Don't do that.

It's really quite simple to fit.

Mine has just given-up the ghost after nearly four years and only then because it got filled with fesh-fesh in Morocco, followed by rain when I got back. The fesh-fesh has the consistency of cement once it's got wet and for the price, it's not a bad result.

My replacement should be here today. If you are not in a hurry, give me a few days and I will post some pictures of how to connect it.

I don't know what the problem is, I fitted a nautilus and at first was faced with the same dilemna that everyone seems to be confronted with in that it just seems to big to fit where the stock horn is......but after some fettling and general poking around I found it fits in so easily.

I have a 1100 but have since fitted one in exactly the same way onto a mate's 1150 . The bolt that the original horn bolts on to is part of a bracket. There is another bolt that goes horizontally from left to right above it and this bolt holds the original horn bracket in place. I removed the bolt and took the mounting plates from the original horn and fitted them so the go straight down parrallel with the fork leg.

The nautilus can simply be bolted directly onto that bracket and it is set far enough back to not interfere with the forks and it clears the suspension too.

The next part of the puzzle was the wiring . It comes with it's own relay and the wiring diagram leaves you puzzled to say the least. I just used the exisiting wiring from the original horn - hit the button and feck me !!!!!!! What a blast - Nautilus installed and working easy as you like. You will have to change the BMW spade connectors to standard size ones to connect it to the nautilus. That's the only mod required.

I can't think why anyone would start trying to break it open their beak and go to all the trouble to fit this - it's 2 bolts and it's done....

PM me if you are having any problem and trust me the standard relay on your bike is fine unless you are planning to drive around with your thumb on the horn all the time .

Sebel horns

Yes no need to use the relay supplied - I fitted a Nautilus first to my K1200RS and then the 1150GS and simply changed the connections and it worked fine until the Nautilus stopped working on the GS last month - replaced it with a Magnum which sounded quite loud enough and takes up much less space making it easier to fit.

I didn't use a relay either and it managed to make me empty my bowels when I first tried it in the garage. Fun watching the MOT guys when thy first try the horn usually goes . . . "PPPAARRPPP" followed by "Feck me!"

Chris, Nick fitted one of these on his and its fecking loud if we are on about the same horn, sounds like a truck horn

So, I fitted the Nautilus today after much faffing about, ended up making a bracket to hold it in the original mounting space. Extended the original wires as they were too short to reach the terminals and didn't want to start cutting into the loom.... Dropped the blasted thing which then had to be taped up as the plastic horn kept coming off and finally hit the button feck me it was loud

Hit it again and ..................

Checked the fuses and the poxy 7.5 amp fuse was blown

Changed it for a 10 amp (not sure if this is ok to do) and it worked like a dream, causing me no further frustration or embarrassment.....

It is BLOODY loud though

Just a little idea for those without ABS

I fitted my Nautilus in the space in front of the battery where the ABS gubbins should live.... just made a little bracket for it and it fits a treat...out of sight, still bloody loud

I fitted the replacement one today, I was surprised when I un-packed it to see how much smaller they have made the 'trumpet.'

It does make it easier to mount in the OE horn place than the original one I had.

Not sure that its as loud as my first one though.
