Steering Damper

Tony, what tyres do you have?

I was going over, the over banding on German roads and getting slight wobbles too. There was a lot of it about!

+1 for CC :thumb

I have Michelin anekee 111 and the bike had done less than 2000 miles at this point and I forgot to mention it was raining!

Don't get too excited girls, my F800R has a steering damper.

87 bhp at the crank (on a good day).

I mean, how ridiculous is that?

I visited my dealer yesterday, just looking at a new WC ,

I asked if it was one of the new 2014 models, Yes ! it is sir,

Well ! shouldn't it have a steering damper ? It does sir,

OH no it doesn't , Ive looked , Someone is going to be proper pissed off when they pick their new bike up :blast

But not to worry, mine doesn't need one ;)

Did it have the new white coil springs?

I've seen this clip before - at those speeds what would actually induce the wobble in the first place? - proper question.

It will most likely be off a little crest or rise in the road - enough to get the front end very light if not just slightly off the floor. Imagine that scenario - hitting a little rise at three figures, the front momentarily looses contact with the ground, we're on a bit of a bend (as in the vid) and when it comes back down its inches out of alignment with the back ....
That's how yer wobble will start.
No surprise in that vid that we see a slight bend and what looks like a slight crest he's just come over ... :thumb2

That's Bray Hill, flat-out on a Fireblade :D

So Fireblades are prone to tank-slappers, so the TL1000 wasn't the only widow maker :D

I'm not sure batman, I was looking for a damper, and when it wasn't fitted i stopped looking ,sorry,

My bike with me on board, doesn't need a steering damper, perhaps most of you go a lot faster than me, :D

Ive been riding 54 years and I've never experienced a tank slapper (lock to lock that is) I've had a couple of wobbles though, (touch wood)
