NOT trying to stir things but - just felt compelled to add this...
i have PM'ed Steptoe about some things in the past.
sometimes i get a reply / sometimes i dont.
when he can help - i get a reply.
when he dont...i presume he cant :nenau
personally having run a (tiny) business in the past myself - its the basis *I* would work on;
i.e; if i CAN do something i WILL / if i CANT - i wont waste time (mine or anyone elses)...coz, especially for a small business, you cant AFFORD to waste time.
i seriously doubt theres an "in crowd".... just some people know each other better than others.
i'll shuddup now :)

In no way I am I part of any "in crowd".
Neil has however supplied me with filters, pads, muffs etc. at well below market prices. Snoopys post confirms, what I had assumed, that he is doing things at "mates rates" and helps out as much as he can.
The man is a leg end and has made a massive contribution to the success of this site. I for one am more than happy to be "ripped off" by him. :clap

I've never met or spoken to Neil, but on the two seperate occasions I've PM'd him for prices for bits / servicing he's replied the same day. Can't say fairer than that.
 
If you want to know what a great geezer our Steppers :bow :thumb is.......................try pricing up a S/S kit from one of BMW spares companies.
 
I have had filters pads plugs etc..top bloke...mans trying to run a business..he probably aint got time to answer everything cos he is up to his neck in oil..

Bike start to run (very) rough. Contact Neil... he lets me drive on over (bike not really rideable) and he loans me twin spark plug cap/coil to see if that is the problem... all done on trust.
Unfortunately that isn't the problem... get bike recovered over to Neil... fixes it, does the service that is about due and charges are all very reasonable.
Seen him help out folk loads of times at various events, he does it all with very good grace and large amount of piss taking.

Don't want to make him feel too good.... But top bloke.
 
Bought some tyres from him and it was a totally painless experience.....
apart from him living somewhere my Garmin Quest couldn't find!

Couldn't possibly have been operator error.
 
Never met Neil, but I sent a cheque and relevant info for a set of S/S kit, got the kit two days later, before the cheque got cashed... :thumb
Plus he contributed to save me from making the expensive mistake of buying an unnecessary, more powerful alternator (which he could have sold me) when all I needed was a new battery (which I got replaced under guarantee)... :bow
