Sticking Flat Slide........

The flat slide on my Mikuni carb is sticking just before it gets to the bottom when you close off the throttle......

Any remedies??????

Take it apart and fettle it? I mean, what else do you think you can do to clean it? Assuming the cable's seated properly etc.....

You may have a slightly bent needle perhaps?

Petrol Varnish? has it been left standing?

Soak the whole thing in WD40.... it worked for my chainsaw that had a gummed up carb......

Has this just sta r ed to happen for no apparent reason and without any changes being made?
Have you just chaged the height of the needle, or changed the main jet?
Have you just fitted the Mikuni?
When you say "it is sticking" do you mean that you have actually seen it physically stuck, ir that when you close the throttle that the engine is revving higher than idle?
I'm sure the collective can think up many more questions, and even more solutions. ..
If it is physically sticking though it is the carb internals, cable mechanism or the cable itself.

Or twat it with a hammer.....judge the weight of the strike carefully....just right and you could shock it free....too heavy...and you'll need a new carb....either way..job, jobbed......ask any ex-REME to lend you a suitable hammer......

Sounds like a possible air leak, rather than a sticking slide? Does it pop and bang on overrun more than it used to? I can't recall how the breather pipes connect, it might be eorth checking for splits and to make sure they are connected. I had this with my DynaGlide on the standard carb, dealer haf fitted the Stage 1 Scheming Weasel air filter with no gaskets, so I had air leaks at all points. Could be worth checking that the choke control is prooerly seated. It screws into the body just behind the slide. If that is loose or sticking the symptoms might be the same

As per Twizzles advice ...I soaked it in WD40......did the trick.........

Don't knock the humble hammer. I've used it to fix many things...cars, bikes..tractors...neighbourhood disputes. A very versatile tool...trust me.
