Just about to change compooters so would like to keep some stuff from the out going namely music files can I put these on a stick and how's it work?. many thanks for any help.

Yes you can put them on a stick but what do you mean "how's it work"?

You load the stick and insert the stick in the new comp to transfer.

Dave...just keep the old hard drive with the music on, and put it into the new computer......there will nearly always be a spare slot for it and a power connector.

If there's not, get a universal caddy (about 30 quid) and put the old hard drive in that then connect it to the USB port of the new one....it will still be seen as a separate hard drive.

You can never have too much storage :thumb2

Is it a Windows 7 pooter ? if it is, you can use WET, Windows Easy transfer to take all your stuff from one PC (Music included) over to the new pooter.

It's easy to use, just go to the start / help and type Windows Easy Transfer and follow the steps.

If it's XP, you can do the same sort of thing using FAST, Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. If you are going to a new PC running 7 (or 8) You can use WET to create an app on the USB stick that will auto run on the XP machine.

All the other advice is sound, and personally I would dump the old hard disk in a caddie, for around £5 - £10 and you've got extra storage.
