Still luvin it !

I got the Vario because I've had one for a couple of years on my Blackbird and found it perfect with regards to the wind, even at 6'-1" I don't get any buffetting at all on either bike, just personal preference I suppose.

:beerjug:

Must be a height thing then, I've had my seat reshaped so am sat lower as well. Found I sat slumped down a bit with the standard screen so hopefully I can sit more upright now to ease my back on longer trips.

Now then, theres a point !

What did you do to your seat to make it possible for longer runs !

My ass aches after 20 miles but I aint paying for the BMW comfort seat !

I wish we had the seat of the Tiger 800, tried one today and it was perfect (far better than the rest of the bike).

Here's the challange then Russ to make yourself a better seat then flog them on here.

That looks about the same size as The BMW touring screen
And that was shite , wind right dead center of ones head .
So I now have Wunderlich ergo tint , and that is spot on .and have the two bmw ones in a box

And as for the seat a sergeant seat is as good as you can get !!

Russ, I took my standard seat to a place in Preston who cut some of the foam out and fitted a gel pad. The seat isn't as low as the OEM low seat but is a much better shape so doesn't feel as much of a plank.

Cost £60 but a half of that was the gel pad, some people don't have the gel fitted but have different density foam.

Have a look in the "Quick links to popular threads" sticky, there's a link to a thread about seats.

my experience is the opposite. out of all of the screens i've had, the powerbronze was the worst. it deflected the turbulence right into the middle of my visor and made for a very noisy ride. i'm just over 6", so maybe your height helps. i'm now back with the original OEM BM screen.

I am 6' and did the same, fitted a MM touring screen and removed it as it made the problem a lot worse, back to original which is ok. May look at the Vario next.

Same issues with the vario, but not quite so bad as the MM/powerbronze. Of all, believe it or not, i've come full-circle and returned to the OEM screen, albeit it's painted white now. It seems that BMW did do their homework on this one. Hoping I save you some pennies mate....

Great shot. Makes me want to be there. Is your Airhawk fitted to a low seat? I have standard seat and I think fitting a pad would raise me up too much. Also which screen is fitted. I can see a spoiler on the top, but it looks too tall a screen for a Vario.

That's the gulf of Kotor in Montenegro. Parked up next to colebatch's seat. That indeed was the low seat with the airhawk. But as you only need a small amount of air in it to take a effect I would still recommend taking a look at it.

The screen was a Touratech one with the vario spoller screwed into the top of it. It was perfect for me at 5' 7".

Thanks for the info. I thought the screen could have been something like that. Trouble is, the saga of screens goes on. I am 6'2" and thought a spoiler might do the trick. Maybe a set of 'clip on's' might replace the existing bars. cafe racer GS? Might invest in an Airhawk if it only needs a little air, my feet might still reach the ground.

You may just have done that :thumb

The seat from my 30th Anniversary model is away with Tony Archer as we speak - gel insert to be fitted, to save a sore ass. Cost me 17quid to post upto Tony, he charges 60quid to do the job and 20quid to return post. Need to keep the original seat cover (red anniversary) so this was a good option. If you send it on a Monday, he'll get it back Friday :thumb2

Just the screen to sort - i might just go for the BMW Touring Screen....

If people are still looking at screens. This one seems so cheap it's got to be worth try, if for nothing else it'll be good to experiment on.

Not my find - borrowed from a guy on f650 website who writes nice things about it.

(mods i hope ok to source - that site doesn't really pose much threat to this one!)
