still on the battery problems :/

Ten miles each way daily will keep the battery charged on a 2008 bilke with a large alternator.

Even less - my daily office run is no more than 4 miles each way and the battery (Odyssey) always churns it over fine - including after stopping for the the obligatory refill at Tesco on the way in.

Previously the drive the bike was off the road for three months from Jan to April 2013 and it still fired (slowly) up ok, despite the fact it had not been on charge at any time whilst not being used.

A wired in voltmeter will show the trend as volts drop after starting then pick up as charge is refilled.
A wired in centre zero +/- ammeter shows more detail but much more hassle to fit

It would be useful if you could check battery voltage after being left overnight before trying to start the bike- that might indicate whether a parasitic load has indeed come and snaffled coulombs while you sleep.

Would changing changing your sleep patterns or indeed working a night shift help in this particular scenario?

Coulombs!! Havent seen any of those since I was a schoolboy decades ago. How old are you? 80?

I thought they were the blokes hauling carts somewhere out in the empire.

Just put a tong tester on the + which reads the current
Doesn't need to disconnect anything

That tests the battery but I was meaning to have an inline instruments on the dash. Volts are easy and the charging trend develops. Ammeter more complex to wire in.

i think i have actually fucking figured it!

the spots that i have connected to my bike that i never turn on for some reason have been turning them selves on and off randomly when the bike is parked up, even tho the switches are turned off and they (as far as i have seen) haven't been able to turn on with the bike off, so have pulled the wire, left it without charging it over night and will see how it goes later today

i hope so anyway.....
