Stock exhaust mod

Was reading an article on exhausts but cannot remember or find article. It was about someone taking out stock exhaust internals on a 2009 adventure and got fruity sound and it did not affect running of bike. It did not say how to do it but it said cheaper than buying an aftermarket exhaust. Any ideas on this.

The initial bit is about decatting, page 2 has the silencer. I have a silencer that I gutted following Bluebirds post but have never got round to putting it on. I managed to get a full standard system for £60 as I wanted some downpipes to decat, as I had the silencer I had a go at it with my brother in law. Gathering dust in the garage now! Mines an 09 as well.

Cutting out the catalyst will remove its cork effect but the gas flow still wont be exactly fab. Why not wait for a used no cat header to come up for sale?

Theres a full remus system for £300 in the for sale section

Use that Remus, keep the OEM system safe and dry then swap back before you sell the bike.

I had my originals de-cat'd, in hindsight, I should have waited for a set of aftermarket headers.
You should buy the set in the for sale section and sell on the can if you don't want it.
I haven't noticed any adverse effects with what I have done, and it has "freed" the engine up a bit but I can't imagine that the exhaust gas flow is ideal.
