I'm new to the site. Just a word to other GSers out there, especially those living in London or other city centres with no choice to but to leave their bike on the street overnight...
I had my beloved Black '06 GS lifted (literally, I guess) overnight on Thursday, May 8 to Friday, May 9 in the Ladbroke Grove area in London. Maybe naively, I'd always considered the bike as a low target for theft: not a boy-racer, big and heavy to move, ignition wheel lock, etc. The only way this bike could have been taken (from right outside my 3rd floor flat while I slept) was by pros with a van. Probably 3 guys to lift a bike like that.
So a word of warning to everyone out there: criminal perp morons don't just like Fireblades and R1s…the GS is not immune.
Just as other posts on here mention, the thing will likely be on its way to god knows where in Eastern Europe or somewhere right now. (I saw the posts of the Lithuanian based seller of UK GS bike parts. Ahem.) But on the off chance anyone might see it, the vital stats are as follows:
2006 model year
Registration HK56 TJO
Black (with the usual silver side trim)
No panniers or top box
Ironically, may be easier to spot vs a lot of GS's out there because it was just the basic, simple, wonderful bike. No mods or tweaks.
Looking forward to weeks of searching for a low mileage replacement, plus the pleasure of insurance company "service" (use that word loosely) to process my claim.
