Stolen GS 1200s in London

2 Oxford monster chains around a pole.
1 Abus chain
1 Oxford disc lock

Fingers crossed

I have only just bought my GS, used approved from BMW and came with all the BMW equipment, therefore in my opinion it is not modifications, it's not fleabay stuff but genuine BMW fitted items.

I do have my suspicions about who is involved though! Has anyone had any tyres fitted where it was stolen from recently???? Mine was knicked a week after having tyres fitted!

I won't name the provider on the forum as I don't want to be done for slandery but merely just a question???

Bike Trak, fitted to my GSA. MY mate tracked me all the way to Sibera and back this year

Have you shared your suspicions with the police?

I have my tyres fitted locally and have never had a bike (or a car) stolen. As preventative methods go, it's as good as the keeping of a pound of butter in the fridge. There again, I don't live in Sutton.

PS Slandery is a place in Ireland. Or if it isn't, it certainly should be.

Just watching a Thief Trackers programme on BBC2 , Ducati Panigale stolen whilst refuelling in London, tracked across Belgium, Germany Poland and ended up in Vilnius, Lithuania no doubt to be broken up and sold off from spares on E Bay

That's is some scary stuff, tougher checks on outbound bikes needed

Stolen bikes will either be in the back of a locked van, hidden within a cargo in a container or as in the case of stolen quads heading for Ireland parked in the back of a tipper and covered with 15 tons of grain

Mine was stolen from Sutton SM2 on Wed or Thurs last week from inside my garage.

R1200GS TE
HV13OAS

BLADY PIKEY SCUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH and apparently luggage, crashbars and LED Spots are considered MODIFICATIONS!!!!!!!

Shit, that's frighteningly close to home. Hope you get it back or are suitably recompensed.

How, without making bods queue to present their V5, shoe size and God knows what else to some bod at the points of exit?

Now (slandery, aside) have you reported your theory as to the thieving tyre fitter to the police, thereby maybe bringing you closer to having your motorbike recovered? Though it's not too clear what leads you to suspect the fitting bay employees as being the culprits.

The tyre fitter is a mobile one that came to my house and fitted the tyres in my garage, hence knew exactly where it was parked and what my setup was. I have not mentioned any names on any site, but merely trying to see if anyone has had a similar scenario. Yes the police are involved and investigating.

Whats the BMW alarm like? Just got quoted about £300 for one installed. is it any good? Worth using in London, or better to have mechanical lock?

The BMW alarm is as good or as bad as any other, maybe better than an alternative in as much as it's integral rather than being lashed on.

Will it stop your bike being stolen? Lots of bods will report that their bike has one fitted and it's never been pinched. They also have a pound of butter in the fridge, which is just as likely to have been the deterrent.

The only way to do it best? Chain your bike to something solid and buy decent insurance. Don't rely on a disk lock or a chain through the wheel, left dangling or lying on the pavement.... Or an alarm, alone.

My next bike when the insurance company settle my claim will have a combination of security items added, alarm and tracker and well some added physical security when home.

Let's be honest, if they want it, they will find a way of getting it
