STOLEN GSA1250 PUTNEY HL19 CFP

I found the pictures interesting in as much that a witness was able to take photographs but actually do nothing.

Made me think, What Would I Do in that situation seeing a bike being stolen?

I would like to think that I would intervene, somehow, but what, and at what risk.

Push scrote no 1 off the red Honda moped - run at him quickly, pushing on the top box and catch him off balance?

Would the 2 of them just scarper?

Grab the keys out of the ignition?

Where is the disc cutter? (presumably battery powered)

All thoughts mind you.

We are all brave behind a keyboard.

Did you read what the OP said? They were threatened with a hammer when they tried to intervene.

Shall I start it? ;)

It is in fact perfectly ok for one to ride one’s bike to a place of exercise as long as you maintain social distancing during the ride and at your destination - the rules do not expressly forbid driving to your place of exercise, if you only have a motorcycle (like me) then it’s only fair that you can use it for that purpose. It’s much less likely to spread the virus than jogging around a town centre.

Michael Gove said we can “go for the standard length run or walk as we ordinarily would have done....the important thing is once a day”

Trouble is, unless you’re riding somewhere to go for a walk or run, all the places of exercise are shut. :tears

OP so sorry to hear they got your bike, I lost my forever keeper RT 90th Anniversary, car and lots more to a burglary while on holiday. I would end up in prison if I got hold of the scum.

I would imagine it depends on your previous experience of being involved in incidents etc, these little shits are like hyenas, one on one they bark loud but are usually quite pathetic, in a pack they can be a problem. They also have no social line and will stab/attack without fear on consequence.

From some of the stuff I have done (inc employment) I am pretty sure I would get stuck in but under no illusion that I am probably going to get hurt in some form, as everyone does in any physical incident unless it’s a truly uneven match.

Knocking him off the red scooter would would cause the GS rider to heisiate and ponder whether to stop, at this point you have one down and the other one unsure. If you are quick that gives you the upper hand but don’t concentrate on one or you’ll get jumped. A push into the GS with ththe scooter would probably result in both going down and I would guess they would both go for the scooter as a GS is hard to pick up when you are attacking. Hopefully some others will have join you by then.

A good tip, a helmet is a good weapon to headbutt with however the minute you can grab the chin bar and drag it backwards, you have taken control of the head, they will have to go where you pull. If the strap is undone, then you’ve just gained a weapon to keep hold of and hit with. Odds on for human nature, he will try to get the helmet back. This all gains time for further intervention, causes them more issues and adds to their unease.

Just be very careful and know that you might get hurt in some form however if society stood up together these little shits would be screwed.

Just my opinion, I HATE these little shits and would quite happily go toe to toe with them whatever it may bring.

If i came across these scum whilst in the car i'd follow them, get as much photographic evidence as i could whilst calling the police (hands fee of course!) and tell them they will have a public order issue on their hands shortly.... If it came down to it, they may make a stupid move that might result on them riding into my car :green gri:green gri:green gri

The guy taking the picture ran down the street in his bare feet, he called me yesterday and wished he could have done more. He also ended up with a nasty cut on his foot whilst chasing shit 1 and shit 2. Another lady witness said she was petrified and didn't dare take her phone out.

This might be a timely reminder to some of us about home and vehicle security. The current outlook for the country will cause a huge spike in petty crime. :(

I recon when the chips are down is self preservation. But getting physical over a lump of metal?
Once upon a time when I lived abroad, all the residence of my kibbutz had to do guard duty, we had an UZI in the jeep or whatever was your choice of the backup weapon. We never ever had a problem, locals knew that almost the entire male/women population was serving or ex. Plus there was an armoury on site with toys. Two different circumstances.

Shock Horror

I have had another call today from the Met Police giving me some shock horror news ......... the scooter the shits were using was stolen on the same day.
The officer told me of the frustration felt by the police because only a very select few highly trained drivers are permitted to knock these little twats off.

I have a phone interview with the insurance company tomorrow afternoon and I already know that I am going to be smashed up, I have done my homework and found three other 1250s with the same spec and mileage. I have to pay the first £600 so I am already down. This will be my last new bike, its not worth the grieve and worry I am going to buy a shit old commuter

Don't most policies replace the insured vehicle with a brand new replacement if less than 12 months old? My bike and car policies certainly do.

Why don’t some of the more intrepid of us park a bike up as a trap ... and make these fkrs ..... disappear.

No one will miss them.

Get yourself a monimoto tracker £150 i have been using one for two years and have tested the drive/theft mode in great detail a first class bit of kit.

Regards Matthew

Thanks Matthew
I will look into it when I get the next bike, who searches out the bike when it’s stolen? Is it the Police

Hi the bikes location as soon as it has moved 2 metres it sends a trigger alert to your phone in under 10 seconds. The tracker fob must be about your person when you are riding the bike.If the tracker does not detect the fob local to the bike if it is being stolen an immediate message and location of the bike is sent to your phone.

Regards Matthew (ps i bought the 1150 gs off you last year)

Really sorry to hear all this. Just about (well I was, obviously somewhat delayed now) about to buy a new GS - live in Clapham but have off street and a garage so hopefully that’s enough.

Good luck with the insurance.

The problem with the tracker is your bikes been stolen and you have got no way of pursuing them, the Police have told me they can cover the bike (in what I am not sure) which blocks the signal. What shocks me the most is the poor BMW security a Whitness told me that a quick yank broke the steering lock and the alarm siren was silenced by one blow of a hammer... why is siren not under the tank or a place that is hard to get to.
How is the 1150 going.

Hi very sorry to hear about the theft the gs 1150 is all fine hope you get a result with your insurance. PM me if you need more tracker information i will give you my phone number.

Regards Matthew

Whatever tracker you choose, think about where it will fit, there are not too many places to easily secrete a tracker on a new'ish LC

Not sure any discount would be enough to make me pay subs to this place currently. It’s worth a read for entertainment from the ample drama queens and dummy spitters I suppose. Lots of angry, probably middle aged men, possibly with erectile dis function riding gs bikes it seems.

Please buy some viagra and a chill pills peeps so we can have at least some threads on completely non contentious topics staying non contentious.
I can’t wait for the “ I’m still riding my bike, sod em ” after the lockdown thread. That’s gonna go really well.

😂😂 Wow. For someone who doesn’t like contentious posts, you certainly kicked the anthill.

P.S. how old are you and couldn’t you afford a GS?
