yeah i was thinking it should rattle and bang alot more but its actually quite civilised

theres a slight tappety tap and a tickety tick... but nothing im worried about.

Ordered replacement seals from motorworks today.

Cant wait now!

Did you get the wires sorted from the ignition barrel? I'm fairly sure I have a new ignition switch kicking about in the garage somewhere. Not the keyed part just the switch with the wiring and connector plug. Yours if you need it.

thanks kmd but fitted a new one haha... damn! thanks anyway though. its damn scary how easy to nick the gs is though when you think about it!

i still have some parts left over from the rebuild if anyone wants em. see my "free abs ring" thread. ... but the ring and cover are gone

Well it flew through its mot yesterday with no problems, even with the full remus its remarkably quiet so no issues with that. Still a bit scared of the front panel carrier breaking as im a learner when it comes to plastic welding (it was snapped in half and missing quite a lot of the buttress reinforcements). The faster i go, the higher my headlight starts to point!

Otherwise totally love it though!

Total cost inc. all accesories and work done - £1800

This had made me look at mashed up bikes in a whole new light and i wont be worried about taking on a big project next time.... but that will be a while off because im keeping the gs!

Well done chap.

I was in the same situation as you - my bike was a stolen recovered - but from the sounds of it with a lot less damage.

Over the years I have replaced all the bits (apart from the tank - which I covered with a Bagster) that got damaged when it was originally nicked... and am very satisfied with the way it looks now.

Keep an eye on Ebay and on the fs&w section - won't be long I'm sure before you come across the bits that are still a little 'iffy' (at a decent price)
