Where/how can I get tank scratches and chips touched up. I have tried cocktail sticks, small brushes etc, but it still looks sh*te. Its a metalic finish, which I suppose does not help.

The problem is that most touch up paints still leave a visible 'scar' - the only solution to give you smooth paintwork is a respray really...

Look in your yellow pages under dent repairs, there are franchises such as "chips r us" who will come and do the job at your house and are very reasonable. I haven't used them myself but I know some of the users of this forum have and have been pleased with the results.

What about using T-Cut from Halfords to rub it down after the paint has dried. One done, lacquer it.

FROSTS the car renovation catalogue advertise a tool which may help. Basically it's a razor blade in a holder, this takes highlights off. Binned the catalogue, so no more info.

a trick we use in the bike (bicycle) frame business for small chips that need re-painting is to apply the correct touch up paint to the offending area, less is more here, then cover with clear tape... wait for paint to dry, and it does eventually regardless of the tape as long as it's a small enough area, then peel off the tape... if you taped it smoothly and flush with the rest of the surface it usually looks pretty good and avoids the "paint scar" Nadeem mentioned above... metallic paint is always going to be tricky though...

By clear tape do you mean sellotape?
