Strange bulb failure warning

I went out for a bimble this afternoon - about 90 miles of mixed "B" roads with the occasional fast "A". When I got home I noticed a bulb failure warning for the high beam. If I put the high beam on, it went on for about 5 seconds then went out. Turn it off then back on, 5 seconds and out it goes again. If I use the "flasher" button, no problems, it will stay on as long as I have my finger on the button. This seems to rule out the bulb its-self, but the 'puter is obviously seeing something. The bulb failure light stays on all the time.

Any of you smart chappies or chappesses have any ideas?

Cheers, Brian: confused:

just check it's sitting in the holder properly and the connectors in and not corroded.

Ps it's a lamp, a bulb grows in the ground:P

Fair point, I'll check that. I should have called it a lamp not a bulb, afterall I was site electrical engineer for a very well known LAMP manufacturing company for a few years......doh

I have had a similar experience.........My new GSA arrived Monday and for the first 20 miles the puter was saying I has a LIGHTSR! fault but nothing seemed wrong, the dealer said that it could be the rear lamp (I would have called it a bulb, too:nono ) filament blown but I may not notice any lighting problems cos the rear brake lamp filament would continue to work as though it was the rear light as a failsafe.....anyway, started her up yesterday and the warning message had gone, 50 miles later and still no warning message:nenau
