Did the L/C GSA have halogen ?
I'll be cutting them down I think. Have the shield just on the outside.

Nope these are definitely the correct guards for your bike. We've sold hundreds of sets of these and never had a problem before, so not sure what the issue is. I will be now be seeing our technical guy later today and I'll have a chat with him about it. You may want to hold off cutting them until I can get back to you.

Annette. Mounting them with the crimped over end towards the rear (picture 4) they fit clear without touching the fairing (radiator)
So is that the right way round?

Could it be that you've got TC spot covers rather than LC covers?
