OK I have done a thread search and can't find this particular one listed. The problem I have is my 1150 Adventure (32 litre tank) orange fuel light is constantly on. The last time I filled up the RID gauge did not go to the top even though I "brimmed it". Today whilst out the light came on when I had at least 10 litres in it - I know because I could just squeeze over 20 litres in it. Fuel gauge still not "to the top" and orange light now permanently on.
I understand the gauge can be sorted by cleaning the contacts under the right hand side panel but I have read the warning lamp is supposed to be more accurate and runs independent of the fuel gauge - I have heard of the light not coming on, but not going off? Any ideas?:nenau

check the wiring harness from the tank to the headstock. If the harness gets a bit tight (or was assembled wrongly in the first place) then the insulation can become chaffed and cause a low resisitance or short.

This problem has manifested itself in all sorts of strange console (weird lights etc) and misfires/dead bikes (kill switch circuit). Problems are often intermittent as lock to lock steering can move the wiring enought to remove the short, temporarily.
