Strange smell from the front of the bike

Hi Guys

This is the second problem i have.

When i stop the bike and the engine is still on i have a strange smell from the front. I think it is not petrol because it is a different smell compared to the one coming from the tank. It is very similar to the smell from the final drive oil. It is not from the grear box because the smell comes exactly from the front of the tank -- under. Do you have any idea?
It doesnt smell when the bike engine is off.

Year, model, mileage? Maybe it's your alternator belt about to explode.

its a 2007 GS 1200 / 11 k mileage

It is not the belt because i checked. It smells like petrol/ oil.

i checked the leads in the left part of the bike under that black plastic panel. i removed the petrol lead ( the one with a little seal on it ) and pop it back. No leaks there and no leaks under the bike.

It is just that smell that is killing me

dont think it is the clutch .. it should smell similar to a car clutch. i will check the pressure switch

Check the clutch fluid level. If the slave cylinder hydraulic banjo leaks it will drop oil that might get on the exhaust.
Are you carrying spare oil under the petrol tank. It's a GSA only farkle that can leak.

I checked the clutch fuel. All is fine. Its smells exactly like final drive oil. like onion

It's probably just a hot oil smell. Mine did it for a while from new, then seemed to not smell as much and now after 8.5k and a service makes the smell again..

All part of the fun..

Only noticeable in traffic and when hot - hotter it gets more the smell.

exactly.. i think thats it. I checked everywhere there are no leaks.

It's probably your oil cooler getting warmer, maybe some residue, ie cleaning agent, AXF50 or whatever, in the fins of the small rad under the headlight.
You don't smell it when you are moving due to airflow both cooling through the rad and also diluting any smell. In slow moving traffic you may get a wiff every now and then....all normal.
