It’s a long story………
Can anyone help me? I am a keen Streetpilot III user, and have been for many years. I had 2 units, both using City Navigator Europe v8, then recently, on eBay, I noticed a Streetpilot unit being advertised with 3 data cards and City Navigator Europe 2009. I bought it and loaded up the CNE 2009 DVD. When I down loaded map data on to one of the 3 data cards that came with it, the “new” Streetpilot tells me it can’t unlock maps, yet when either of the other 2 data cards are inserted, it can (clearly shows ref to CNE 2009 when you check map data in the GPS unit itself)! I have CNE 2009 map data for Western Europe on one and eastern France on the other. I called Garmin, told them the problem and gave them the Streetpilot serial number, only to be told that as far as they were concerned the unit had never been unlocked to use CNE 2009 in the first place. I was then told that Garmin will no longer sell me an unlock code for this on any of my other 2 Streetpilot units. That said, I’ve been able to get an unlock code for the “new” Streetpilot unit to read City Navigator Europe v8, from their web site. The previous owner of the “new” unit states that he never had any problem with using / downloading maps / unlock code, but that’s about as far as his help went. So, can anyone help me find a solution to obtaining unlock codes for Streetpilot III GPS units. Fingers crossed!
