Better safe than sorry

Hiya Shapeshifter....,

From new....that's 4 years ago now......I didn't like the thought of any of those bolts coming loose......I can fall off easy enough through my own stupidity, I didn't want any help from the back wheel falling off!.......at least with a twin sided swinging arm you can feel ''strange'' handling behaviour if the back wheel is loose prior to something castastrophic happening.....with a single sider I thought prevention was a wise move on my part.

....so it was a 5 minute job, one bolt off at a time, drill through, back on and when all done some of that really useful steel wire that is plastic coated and sold for tying up your plants and stuff in the garden....job done.

I read in a couple of MCN's left here by guests last year about 2 incidences of BM's spitting off their back wheels because the bolts had been left loose/had come undone following servicing work by 'professional' mechanics!.........

......perhaps the factory ought to start lock wiring them on as standard?....at least if it was a standard fitment you can easily see if there is lock wire on the bolts post service/tyre fitment etc etc........at the worse, even if the bolts loosen they cannot now fully loosen and fall out.

Safe riding

My stubby is at the Post Office waiting for me! :oonyack

Or at least I presume that's what it is; I've got a note in my box saying I have a "foreign" package waiting for my signature.

Hooray!

Blimey, it must have gone by sea :D

All fitted with no further injuries :)

Mrs Twotter is impressed as she says my bike now sounds like a real bike

:thumb2

Guys has anyone heard how Whatton got on with fitting the stubby directly on to the Y piece. I'm just wondering if it'll be worth a try before removing the Y piece and refitting the cat.........................:)

Kev said he'd put a U tube vid of it together when he's done it

My MOT's due in Early Feb so I'm not messing with it till it's got another years ticket on it :)

Has anybody fitted a stubby with a cat, if so how loud is it please.

Just your personal impression against the std set-up.

Thanks

Mine is certainly louder than the cat/standard can but it's by no means antisocial. Though I did see a copper turn her head as I went through a local town on the way home tonight :augie

Mrs Twotter used to complain that she never heard me arrive home on the bike. Well she says she can now and she likes the sound of it :)
