stuck on splash screen

I've just updated the system software on the 660. Instructions sadi to disconnect, wait for a restart then reconnect to pc. Did a safe USB disconnect but the unit has stayed on the spash screen and is not recognised when I plug the USB back in. Any thoughts? The instructions said not to switch off - I haven't yet so will keep it plugged in so battery doesn't go flat! Trust me to do this on a Friday when Garmin help desk don't work weekends

My new 550 froze after a software update - appeared dead with no response to pressing the power button.

I pulled the battery after unplugging it and it worked fine after reconnection.

Might be worth a go?

Well Sh1t or bust. Went for the universal panacea and all is well. It shut down and powered up again with a quick lick of a progress bar and it seems to have updated. At least it is recognised (USB wise) and WebUpdater tells me the unit is up to date!
