Feel free to rip the piss :-

I've not ridden the RT12 much since St Eptoe serviced it at the end of last year.

I took it to Belgium 2 weeks ago and have used it to get to Heathrow and back today,as I will tomorrow and then supposedly taking the bike to see my lad in Wales at the weekend.

BUT,I've got some kind of warning symbol that has been coming on then going off when starting again from cold.

The symbol appears on the LCD screen to the right of the BC sign as shown above.

It seems to come on after riding for about an hour and stays on as long as engine is running.

If you then switch off and restart, the symbol is gone again.

I've searched the manual but can't see it mentioned anywhere.

It looks a tad like an engine symbol but not like the one in the manual-its a bit like an engine block with 2 triangles either side.

Can anybody shed any light ?

Oil level warning I think.

I had this a couple of years ago. BMW "advanced" techs didn't know what it was either!!

It would come on for a bit, go off for a bit, come on for a bit, etc.....

The OBC would show oil to be ok, and the level looked ok..... adding oil to take it near to the top of the window fixed this.

I thought it might be that but I've only done about 300 miles since the bike was serviced !

Had the same on my Rt1200, it is for the oil level, i think it is supposed to be an exclamation mark with triangles either side, however my lad thought it looked like a letter H - depends if you focus on the black lcd or the background.
The level was only about a third of the way down the window when it came on and disappeared again when a small amount of oil was added.

Perhaps that robbing bastard bike fixer short changed me on oil replenishment !!!!!

I had it a while ago - couldnt find the detail in the manual but thought it could be oil level so put half a litre in and no reappearance - I think the arrows either side are supposed to represent the level??

When Bike serviced there was no error warnings recorded on the OEM recorder.

+1 for the oil level.

I had the same for months on my old RT, even though the oil level was right.

Confused the fcuk out of the boys at Pidcocks but when I added a little bit of oil it disappeared.

Eventual diagnosis IIRC was 'It's a faulty sensor, ignore it & just keep an eye on the oil level'. :thumby:

Confirmation of pointless, useless uneeded, complication that no one needs
