Anyone interested in some laning round Bristol on Sunday? I haven't been out for a while so should really give the old pogo some action. I would imagine that the lanes are not very GS friendly at the time so pogos recommended

Starting points either Ashton Court or Keynsham, TOD if the interest is there.

See yaz

George

Yes please George, AT LAST MAYBE I CAN COME  and a mate Mucky Helmet assuming we get his new bike collected as planned saturday. Ashton Court would be great as that would save me trailering...all a bit much as new to the little bike lark! However, Keynsham fine as well.

:bounce1

Just make sure you have the proper gear and bring water:augie

BTW I am based in Redland if anybody wants to meet up and head out from there.

George, I would like to bring along a second person from Nailsea if pos. So would be me (Rich) on Beta 400, Mucky Helmet (David) on KTM 400 and Mark90 (Mark) on KTM 525 think. We are all well behaved and know what we are doing (mainly!).

I don't mind you brinign friends as long as I am not held responsible for loss, damage, injury etc Will take your word on behaviour. I suggest we have a early start. Say 8:30 from Redland so that we dont bump into the horse and plastic map holder brigade.

There is plenty of parking round my house so you can leave the cars+trailers round there.

Ok, thats good for me. PM me the start point and I will make sure the other two are there as well. We all know the score, you're just showing us the way and have no responsibility for us at all whatsoever (same way as the advrider rallies I do) :thumb2.
Thanks, George.

Edit Mark has an XT225, correction.

Thanks, excellent time!

Thanks for a great day, George. Really enjoyed it and great to get out right on the doorstep for a full days riding. Just had a call from David who says he had a fantastic day. We both agreed we rode until we were about to drop. 102 miles door to door for me!

I was really pleased with the Beta despite the hot start niggle which didnt seem to dog us the rest of the time, perhaps user error :augie. Took me a while to get the feel of the thing but as the day went on, and before tiredness set in I was starting to feel at one with it. David also pleased with the new KTM :thumb

Of course Mark was a star on the Serow, bloody hell that thing goes and takes on anything . Lovely bit of kit. Some real Serow envy here.

Only real casualty was the camera, lesson not learned from three years ago :blast but it will do as a biking one, takes ok pics with viewfinder and the wife will get a new one :o (and some of my bike fund gets spent not on the bike :thedummy)

Pics in a bit

Ok, well of course we all know no one ever stops to take pics of the hard bits, well I don't :thedummy so most of the pics are of the easy bits :D

A gnarley little lane that eventually showed up a little problem with the Beta...or the rider...meaning our leader ended up riding it more than once on more than one bike :augie. Anyway here he is on da 'berg showing us the way

Mark makes it look very easy on the Serow, he might have as well been in his comfiest chair out for a sunday jaunt :eek. Owners of expensive ticklish pieces of Austrian and Italian metal looked on with some envy.

Mucky Helmet (David) on the maiden outing of the only just picked up the day before orange 400 thingy

It would be ingracious to suggest our leader actually fell off. I expect this was a planned dismount :augie

'They will be miles back, they wont have seen......oh shit'. :D

293318970_hW9Ed-M.jpg

Anyway, at least it gave me a good idea where to fall off as well  :augie in time honoured fashion. No pics, as we got a bit hot and bothered in the bushes for the next 30 minutes

Ah yes, Mark. Slow down on the Serow, please there's a 'berg trying to keep up

More in a bit....

Anyway, somewhere around here Mucky Helmet fell off. No one saw, but he admitted it. It was in an easy bit too.

Anyway, on with the pics. As this is UKGSer, its obligatory to do some fording. This is fording, right? Anyway, look everyone, I took your picture with a reflection in a puddle!

Komatias shows some class

Mark on the Serow does it sedately

Oh, when someone takes your camera you often find they have taken a picture of their arse. George takes a picture of his bush

Did I mention Mucky helmet fell off somewhere around here? Yes....oh good.

Time for a breather...

While W.Wabbit takes a bweatha..

I will let him do the story telling as he most probably is still buzzing from the experience...

Anyway, at this point Mark decided that he would fake a problem with the Serow to make the rest of us feel a bit better. Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of the very annoying little dog behind that gate.

Not only are they closing our lanes, they put us signs taking the piss. How very dare they...

293367965_xixUr-M.jpg

Some unnecessary pro-am Serow pushing. For some reason Mucky Helmet had parked his KTK embedded in the hedge. I....

(sorry just had to run to the window as I thought someone was stealing my toolbox but it seems the bloke up the road has a Ducati . Yellow too...an individual.)

....where was I, oh yes I didnt get a pic of that.

293351776_bvMHR-M.jpg

Oh yes here it is. George is really wishing he hadn't allowed us to join him, clearly. And why has MH stuck the bike in the hedge and why is he fiddling with my bike. KTM SABOTAGE ....

293352361_Tb6Et-M.jpg

This track ended in a bigger puddle. George forgot to tell us to bring our trunks.

MH with style...

And the leader

Steeley-eyed concentration...

293305136_rEH2k-M.jpg

But look, this is the problem around here. Someone has dumped some rusty-orangy looking scrap metal in the hedge. Mark makes a note to report it to the council, but George suggests we set it on fire

293306751_GRp9j-M.jpg

It was near here we saw the oddest obstruction I have seen on a trail. An engine block. Right in the middle :eek

Anyway, we all had a lovely day

And a big thank you to George

I feel such a fraud signing up here as I don't have GS

But just had to say thanks guys for a great day. Good lanes, good weather, good company. Thanks to George for leading, top job :thumb2

Mark makes it look very easy on the Serow, he might have as well been in his comfiest chair out for a sunday jaunt :eek.

I was glad of my nice comfy chair when we got back and David was complaining of a sore bum. Not sure I want to know how he got that :augie

I was a little concerned that my Serow might not be able to match your bikes (and to be fair in an enduro I'd be way back), but for the trails I like it. Nice easy to ride and forgiving bike, just what I need!

Anyway, somewhere around here Mucky Helmet fell off. No one saw, but he admitted it. It was in an easy bit too.

When I got to the gate I thought he was right behind me, well he was the last time I looked :nenau

Must admit I had a little 'rest' on that lane a few weeks back, but I was going up and it was much slippier then :D

Nice pics (and videos) guys. Always good to re-live the day from the comfort of home after a shower and a good feed :thumb2

And I've just had to re-register on this site just to defend myself!!

Thanks George, cracking day! :thumb2
