The running in continues. It felt slightly odd to be out with GSers and not on one:augie But The Ten performed well and just gets better and better.

More photies please.

Cracking day for it and great scenery although it was starting to get cold when I got back to Paisley at 4pm. :clap

Great Weather!

Looks like a good run guys:thumb
We thought about joining you, but didna really fancy the drag down to the borders from here - plus we had an unfortunate meeting with members of Lothian & Borders finest:spitfire a few weeks ago between Hawick & Selkirk(on our way home from the Stafford Classic Bike Show) - so I'm kinda off the area at the minute:rolleyes:
Instead, we headed up Glenlyon to the tearoom - superb soup & cakes as usual and the weather was as per the borders - so the scenery looked it's best - took the camera but couldn't be bothered using it!!
It was nice to be able to see Boxertools memorial bench. A beautiful memorial in a beautiful place.
Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Andy - see you next time:thumb2

Cheers..........................Grizzly:beer:

I was a bit early for the first coffe stop so I made a detour north of Carstairs

After meeting up with the others and enjoying real coffee courtesy Stumpy and Fi we set off for the first photo opportunity with Voyager leading us on one of his favourite routes

One day I'll get a proper camera instead of using the phone although I doubt that my limited skills would do it justice.

Rumours of an attack against Scotland result in the release of the crack No.397 Carnwath Squadron.....

all told, this was a smashing day out.....nice to meet so many our chums from across the border....:beerjug:

Very enjoyable day out. Thanks to Stumpy and Fi for Coffee and Choccie biccies before No.397 Carnwath Squadron left on their first sortie using captured German and Japanese machines. Wing Cmdr "Spanky" gave us our briefing while Flt Lt "Butch" nearly wrestled his GSA to the ground. As soon as Sqd Ldr "Badder" threw his leg over his bike we headed off with 'The Mad Major" bringing up the rear, much to the delight of Flt Lt "Butch". Sgt "Wrong Way" took up position in the middle of the formation to ensure he didn't get lost after his "Xmas Detour Sortie" the previous weekend. We stopped for some reccie photos and some practice of our Cliquey Sign language. We continued with a clear run to our destination without any contact with enemy "Plod" forces.

Roll on the next sortie :thumb

Nice Photies everyone and like the video stuff Garfield

quite alright.....:thumb .....I wouldn't admit to knowing anyone if I was out for a quiet run....:augie

:D

I tried that. I couldn't believe the number of bikes when I pulled into the Glen Cafe on my quiet run. Busiest I've seen it all year. I did have fun 'celebrity spotting'. I briefly spoke to a man in a yellow jacket who looked a bit like Den of these parts, should I have asked for his autograph? I see my bike is in the photos above, in silhouette!

Beautiful day for a run and magical light.

Well, there's not much for me to add, but I'll put some pictures up nonethe less.

I was the first to arrive at Stumpy's house, shortly followed by Packer. We were rather amazed (and very envious)at the collection of bikes in the garage. There are four '08 plate bikes there - the man has no shame :D

(I was going to say "That must have cost an arm and a leg" but thought better of it :D).

The 1200GSA has gone ( :tears ) to be replaced by this. It looks a very nice bike but not ideal for off-roading.

DSCN3359.jpg

Stumpy doesn't do much off-roading, but when he does, he uses this :thumb

DSCN3363A.jpg

We were joined by Skynet and Garfield and the five of us put the world to rights over coffee and biscuits. Then it was time to head out for lunch.

I was asked to lead so took them on one of my regular runs past Talla and Megget Reservoirs. I think we all took pictures of this view.

DSCN3366.jpg

The Glen Cafe was mobbed, with GS' of all flavours outnumbering the other makes.

DSCN3372A.jpg

Some UKGSers got together, others preferred to be anonymous. Here we have (from the left):

Kenny Rodkiss, Den, Ebby, Stumpy, Garfield, Skynet (with back to camera), Packer and my shadow. We also bumped into Wicker - but he avoided the photo session.

DSCN3374.jpg

There was a constant coming and going. Here a group are warming up before the off.

DSCN3379.jpg

I managed to photograph some of them leaving - co-incidently all on GS' - I didn't recognise any of them but some are probably site members.

No sooner had they gone than the next batch arrived :D

On the way home I found it increasingly difficult to change gear, at one point having to hook the pedal up before getting the next downward change. I thought it was probably corrosion on the gear lever shaft. Eventually I was reduced to third gear only for the last five miles. I was on my 1989 R100GS, with about 57,000 miles on the clock.

When I got home I found that the welds holding the steel gear lever to the pivot bearing had failed, allowing the pedal to twist into the frame under the rear engine mounting :blast . Fortunately its easy to fix and I'll weld it in the morning :thumb

All in all a good day out. Thanks to Andy (Stumpy) and Fiona for their hospitality and to the others for the company. Lets hope we get a few more bright dry days this winter.

Bob.
