Superbike Factory

As someone that worked in the motorcycle trade that one always makes me laugh.

Why didn’t we want high mileage stuff??
Because the customers didn’t want to buy it.

I remember being told that we were ripping people off selling scrap because of a Honda VFR750 we had for sale was at the end of its life…despite it being in outstanding condition.
The customer’s reasoning? 25,000 miles!

currently looking at z650rs and theres 2 local ones and one in hull (100 miles)

the most local one has 13k and fiver off 5 grand the other one is 50 over 5k and 9000 miles the hull one is the same but 1800 miles

normally wouldnt care about leggy stuff if relatively new but the hull one would be worth a look as i dont think the 13k one is cheap enuff and the independent selling it is unlikely to chip much off cos leggy

why are prices all over the place - also bigmoto dudley have one but having ridden thru there dont wanna do that again :D

so you are referring to markup on sale vs purchase cost of product @30-40%
No, I'm talking about profit on turnover. If you take £100k in sales, 30-40k profit needs to be generated for small businesses selling anything that attracts VAT.
For online sales, you can return the product for any reason within the statutory 14 days for a full refund including carriage charges. Everything must be covered by a guarantee, the list goes on and on. You can return anything for any reason in my business within 30 days and everything has at least a 2-year warranty. This all costs money to implement. Plus, the VAT man wants his 20% off the top.
We own our warehouse and showroom, so there is no rent to pay. Rates 35k pa. Five employees at an average monthly cost of 3.5k pm per employee Inc pension and employers NI. Shipping costs £5k pm, it goes on and on.
10% on turnover would be the death of most SMEs and there are plenty going under ATM.

Is 13k leggy??
In context to other bikes a similar price point wit less miles…probably.
Most of us will buy the lower mileage bike so that is why dealers want the lower mileage stuff…it sells quicker.

And surprise surprise, dealers are in business to make money, not fill their premises with undesirable stock…see reports on Superbike Factory’s stock condition.

Leggy bikes?....interesting, read and video, and all comments on this thread.
I am on the look out for another bike, not so much a project this time but a change of say type.

Currently am using an old, 2008 GSA at the moment, but still like to have that available change of bike at the opening of a garage door. (Eenie, Meenie, Minnie, Mo, kinda thing)

Looking at a Honda Vfr1200F with 35k miles on it, bike looks well presented, with full luggage to go with it, seller is mentioning giving up due to health issues, and just wants it sold, £1900.00 which seems a good buy for a sports bike/tourer with 173 bhp on tap.

It's not far away from me which is a bonus, time to have a look see. Perhaps a dealer missed out, on this one, due too leggy miles.....:D
