Hi All. Had my 1100GS for a few months and love it, but I have a problem. During the last few rides I've noticed surging but put it down to being normal, as I've seen a few comments on this site regarding this subject.
Went for a run on Sunday and then parked up for a hour before returning home but when I started the bike there was a huge backfire and it sounded as thou the exhaust had blow.
I rode home with the engine surging and the exhaust sounding as if there were no bafflers. However when I arrived home I discovered that the backfire had blow the air ducts( black tube) off the engine bit (technical or what?) I replaced and the bike sounded fine.
Went for a run this evening and there was surging which made the handling on slow corners a bit uncomfortable. When I got home there was a strong smell of petrol and on checking found that there was petrol dripping out of the small gauge vent pipe to the rear of the bike.
Please could any of you technically minded members give me some info on this problem? Regards, Jeff
