I'm not sure whether I'm going yet as the XR is being "modified" somewhat and I'm not sure if it will be ready. If I am you're welcome a space on my trailer if you can get to J2/M25.

Roy, you intending on doing the loop out to Hindhead on the day as well as the Dorking loop?

Looks like it will definately be the 28th chaps.

Simon, it all depends on how everyone is feeling after doing the Leith Hill/Dorking loop. :D :D :D

Hi Folks,

There has been a call for another Surrey Wombat hunt, but several people have asked me for different dates in November so I'm having a poll.

Whichever Sunday gets the most votes is the date we go out.

This is a popular trail ride with hill climbs, mud, water, chalk, flint tracks and sand. We meet up at Newlands Corner car park near Guildford on the A25 - Dorking Road, take off is at 10:00 so make sure you are there in plenty of time.

Streetmap is HERE

Be there or miss out on a fun day. Look forward to about 60/70 miles of dirt with a stop at a pub half way round for lunch. This is mostly for pogo stick bikes but any hero with a GS is more than welcome.

Please put a posting here if you intend to come along.

Roy.

Erm, I did say 10:00 originally.

Oi! You tosser! At least I can take my pads out!!

Wot Blue Sweeper posted was weeks ago when not even the date was finalised, let alone the time!

Besides, I knew that it was 10.00hrs all the time (and told my mate at work as much last week). I was just checking to see who is a lert.

:D

Greg

me me me....I'm big fat lert :D

And thanks for your CD (cheers Greg :thumb)

I went out the other night and had another go.....dunno if it was the cold or the frustration but the little grub bolts came out this time.....I ran out of time and my fingers wouldn't work in the cold getting the rear pads back in but it's nearly there (FFS what a stupid design, not being able to take off the caliper 'cos of that slidey bit   )

PS.....won't have the Merc by the 28th.......it's on order but has to go to the sign writers before I get it.:(

28th Nov

Hi Roy,

I'm up for the 28th Nov. We also need to arrange a day over 'our way' which we can do on the 28th..... Yes I know I've said that before but this time lets see if we can at least get a date, time and meeting place probably Probably Alton or maybe even Petersfield.

Anyway look forward to the on the 28th.

Clive

Roy and all....
I would love to join you soon on a run but i will be leading a 3 day run in wales on the sunday You are out.

However,I know a great all legal route out in surrey. Start at thursley. first lane being gibbet hill. Its aloop of 142 km of varying terrain. I know the area well so dont need to keep looking at maps etc, In the summer i have done this route on my 1150 Gs but i use my DRZ in winter.

If you or anybody else fancy it give me a call on,, 07830 288 080

The only thing i ask of all the people i take out is that there bike is legal and not to noisy. Leave the race cans to the crotch rocket brigade.

For many years I used to live in Guildford, so know all the legal routes round Surrey as well.

Are you going to bring your bike in the van? It's a long way to ride it!

The meeting point is in the car park at the top of the hill &searchp=newsearch.srf&mapp=newmap.srf]here.

The waypoint appears to be;

N51 13.965 W0 30.411

The weather forecast appears to be dry but pretty cold - bring a rucksack with spare clothing. You might also want to consider packing a flask with a hot drink.

You will probably get wet too (if Blue Sweeper takes us on his usual route).

It'll be a hoot!

Greg

Do I get the impression that more experienced off roaders would not recommend this route to an R12GS with an inexperienced off roader (me).

Only its what I got it for (partly) and i need to start somewhere. :D
