Surrey Trail Ride (Wombat Hunt) April 9th

Well I have cleaned up the bike today after the Herts Wombat Hunt and no damage :D

Even though I managed to hit two trees and take a dunk in the river

The GS kept up with the pogo's very well on Sunday but it had dried out a bit from the week before.

Will come along to this hunt but if there are real dodgy bits then I will bypass them.

Where are you meeting and what time?

Well after the tyre changing debacle, (thanks for the pics! )

I've just ordered a new set of tyres and Pirrelli Mooses.

Any one got any experience of these Mooses ?

Hope you ordered the mousse grease, seriously, otherwise they will be an absolute pig to fit.

Well it looks like we may have about ten bikes turn up. Forecast looks good, so see you all ready to start at 10:00

Lunch will be at a pub half way round and we'll finish the ride hopefully no later than 15:00.

Myself plus 2 mates on Pogo's are looking at doing the route on Pogos, I reckon that 13 bikes are a bit too much for one group. I did the run with you early last year, but I can't remember the route. If 13 bikes are too much any chance you could PM me the GPS details and we can slowly (very slowly) make our way around seperatley??

Cheers

DC

I am still up for this and just want to confirm that the worst bits can be bypassed easily without holding the rest of the group up.

Having hit a few trees and taking a dunk in a river I don't want to push my luck to far. I will be getting a pogo later in the year but am channeling dosh for a trip to Florida at the mo.

Will be on 1150GS with TKC80's

If there are just too many bikes we could have two groups. I'm sure Simon (Jarv) would be up for leading the "fast" group :D and I could lead the rest.

The tough bits for the GS's can easily be bypassed.

Sorry chaps, gonna have to bow out of this one.

Hopefully next time.

Have fun

Two group, twice the fun...

Happy to take out a second group, slow or fast..... I just wanna get muddy!!!!

If anyone is up early and wants to meet me at the Cafe on the A3 in Hindhead for a dash (off-road) up to Newlands corner to meet the gang at 10.00 let me know.

cheers

Simon

For those that can't make it, is there any chance you could post the route?

Early risers....

The cafe in Hindhead is dead easy to find; if you get to the junction of the A3 and A287 in Hindhead (a big set of lights), head towards Guildford on the A3, the Cafe Car Park is on the left just after the Petrol Station.

Cafe is HERE

If we met for 8.30 that should get us enough time to get to Newlands corner before 10.00.

Newlands Corner...

Trying to put a waypoint in at Newlands corner in Mapsource. I thin k I have found it but it's not listed as a place.

Is it on Drove road jct of Shere rd?

car park

Blues n Twos. I'm guessing its the car park just opposite the Manor Hotel (which is in Mapsource - N51 14.257 W0 30.366) on Shere Road, just up from Drove Road. As I'm driving down and leaving the car in the car park all day, I'm guessing its fairly safe and easy to get to..

But then, I may be completely wrong as it does say there is a visitor centre there!!!

Maybe some local knowledge is required!!

H Ellis,

Was just about to pm you :D I will meet you at the car park. My number is 07779 336950. I will call you if I get lost and visa versa.

See you in the morning :thumb
