Hi lads ,Advice sought !
Im thinking of swapping gs , for RT
any advice that you think what extras are worth the money and which are not
example .Im blue-toothed up on music with sena, gps etc ,
So what makes the audio system worth 1075 to put on?
anything else you would advice on or against .
:thumby:

i went the other way …..i went GSA from RT …..the RT is a superb bike I'm sure you will love it …i had the full hit with the stereo etc ..but it wasn't superb . Most riders i know got the same music by popping a card full of music in to the navigator..it plays off the dial on the hand grips the same , obviously there was no radio . then i blue toothed it to my lid …

you will love the bike ..enjoy

You have already got BT and if it works seamless as the BMW audio system does, then I suppose you may only gain the radio part.
I have the audio system with the Nav V, Evo 6 helmet, I can also connect a MP3 player and have a USB connector, and it all works great! I can hear any of the inputs at motorway speed with earplugs.

"Mind you' I do like the radio :-)

Went from the 2013 GSA to the new RT, and after 6500miles i'm loving it.

She's fully loaded with every option available, and some.

I think the Alpine Audio package is brilliant (though it should have DAB for that money).

The RT is faster, handles better, is quieter and has far better weather protection than the new GSA.

An awesomely good Sports tourer

I have a fully loaded RT with radio and also the BMW Helmet with Bluetooth, I have the Navigator V, I can honestly say it is seamless and very easy to use.

I had a Schuberth C3 before and it was a pain to use and when I went to get fuel the bike and helmet forgot to talk to each other and I needed to restart the helmet.

The new system is IMHO well worth the extra loot, but only when you have BMW branded everything else, (pants and socks etc)

Same here except we say 'Belts and braces" ;)
I also have the "full mashin" including hill start and before anyone starts! (pun not intended)....Yep I can ride and take off from a standstill on any hill but with hill start I can put my feet down and stretch both my arms, whole body while maybe waiting at the lights on a hill....You'd be surprised how many times that can happen on a long run :roll eyes: and "two up" it's a god send.

Thanks for the advice,
Hill start probably a stupid question , but can anybody explain what its actually doing to assist please ?

I have both. 14 GSLC and RTLC.

The hill start is one of those things that you think is just a gimmick.......until you use it....

The RT is a FAR better tourer, of course. The engine is smoother.

I have all the gizmos. The radio is good.

Any more questions, please fire away.

Well I am one of the converted as I too believed the hill start was a gimmick, what does it do? The obvious is it assists on any incline without the need of the rider to input a continuos back or front brake. How it works is the rider applies the front brake when at a stop and squeezes it back to the feeling of resistance and symbol appears on the consul telling you Hill Start is applied well just sit back and enjoy. When you want to pull away just apply clutch as normal acceleration and your on your way easy peasy no hassle. I to can ride off any hill as I have had years of practice but this is a nice aid. Hope this helps.

I find it nice to use as I commute to work, no hills on the way but there are 56 sets of traffic lights. As said above, squeeze the lever hard then relax and watch the world go by, when you think the lights are going to change give it another squeeze and the break comes off. Just a point to note- the break light stays on whilst the 'hold break' is on.

Happy new year, chaps ,
Well i took the RT WC out for a test ride along with two mates. One on a gsx 1400 and the other on a 800 tiger, so twisties, long sweepers A-roads ,able to play with the screen cruise control,
What can i say ?
I dont know if its because being on my second GS , but the initial worry of the bulk of the bike disappeared as soon as i pulled away , within 10 mins of being on the bike i was filtering with it , slow speeds , it still feels planted perfectly balanced, ,It showed a clean pair of heels when it needed to ,and surprised my mate on the 1400.
I am now in a conundrum.

Is it the kind of bike i will get out to nip up and get a pint of milk , like i do the Gs , Will it get used less, than the GS
Im a bit OCD on the cleaning of my GS because the 6 week periods it sits while away working , so would I be trying to pull the panels off more than its needed.

Do i go for the GSA or the RT.??????? ive got 4months to make up my mind

Like I posted in my first post steve .i went RT to GSA…some of your reasons above were in my mind when changing…the RT is easier to clean in all honesty. If i needed a pint of milk i walked!! i live 2 mins from Tesco ! ( not helpful sorry)

I could just pop on my leather jacket , jump on the GSA and ride. On the RT i felt i had to wear all the "proper" touring gear , i too like nice clean bikes, the GSA i can ride in crappy weather and not worry about it , but the RT i couldn't. i didn't want to get it dirty ! soft I know ..but by the sounds of it you will know what i mean. A friend who has the RT , bought a GS to use in winter cos he didn't want to mess his RT up with crappy road debris ….that defeats the object of swapping to an RT in the first place
