Rode my near 20,000 mile standard 2013 GS the 20 miles or so over to the other half's place on Friday night - don't know if it was the temperature, humidity or what but it felt perfect, engine felt smooth, gear changes slick gear and the suspension perfectly set up. Maybe it takes 20,000 miles for them to peak? :)

Engines always run sweeter just before they go BANG!
 
The old 1200's defo ran best post 15000 miles which always amazed me why peeps chopped them in at such low mileages

Mine has so far covered 8,000 in 5 months it definitely drives smoother now than when new, I think the key is to just get on with it and ride them briskly it's not a bike to be treated too gentle.

Have done 3k in the first 2 months on mine. Feeling better already. :-)
