swing arm bearings

does anyone now the bearing numbers for a replacement bearing that did not come from bmw, as they are 60$ each, on a g/s i know some have used tymkan(spelling ?) bearings.

Tapered roller bearing 40x17x14. If so, same as wheel bearing.

i know that bmw calls for a 40x17x17 and most folks use a 30203 (40x17x13.2). will that affect the swing arm and do i need a space to take up the slack?

i found out, that 30203 is for the pre-1980 bmws, after-1980 it uses the 32203-a (FAG bearing), one can get one for about 20$ instead of dealer price @60$ each.

got the races out of the swingarm today by the old tymer method of welding a bead around the middle of the race and as they cooled they fell right out!!!!onyack
