Sorry in advance if this has already been covered....

Took bike today to have left hand switch cluster replaced after numerous issues with the Cruise Control, Info Button and Main Beam button. This was done as were the Rear Brake Pads as they have worn badly and unevenly and according to the technician were crumbling.....apparently the new ones are new compound, doubt that but that's what they said....

What was interesting though is I have to go back to have the right hand switch gear replaced as well, even though I have reported no problems with it....

I was shown a BMW UK memo that states any bike manufactured before July 2013 were customer reports issues with left or right switch gear should have BOTH units replaced for free regardless of whether issues have been reported on both units....

Hope this helps others.....:beerjug:

How can you tell when the bike was built? I got mine towards end of July!

I will be having a good look at my rear pads when I get home they have been taking a bit of a pounding this week.....

My riding buddy who got one of the first batch of bikes, has had issues with both left and right switchgear.
We both have had rear pads replaced at 4500 miles, both done another 4500miles with next to no wear on replacement pads,so it appears they have changed the compound.

Or the first set took the sharp edges off and improved the surface finish of the disc:nenau

Don't think so,the disk actually looks worse now, like its starting to wear,so im pretty sure its a harder pad compound.
