I have a System 6 Helmet talking to a K1600 via the BMW Bluetooth kit

Have long been a fan of in ear speaker plugs - so am finding the retrograde step to in helmet speakers a bit frustrating. You cant hear much above 80mph...

Has anyone found a way to add a 3.5mm output jack to the helmet kit (the wires that feed the speakers are very very thin so doubt if they would support a socket very well) and it kinda makes sense to leave the speakers in and have socket that automatically isolates them when using ear pugs...

Any thoughts very welcome, thank you!

Something Similar on Scala Q2

Hi Andy,

I wanted to do the same with my Scala Q2. I did cut the wires to the speakers and managed to attach a 3.5mm female mini jack. It was very fiddly because of the fineness of the wires, but it worked.

I would have preferred your option of keeping the speakers in tact and allowing the use of ear plugs or speakers by choice.

I did find simply using just in-ear headsets a bit fiddly, for quite often they are pushed out of your ears as you put on the helmet.

So I bought one of those kits to mould earplugs to your own ears (from Radians). I bought a cheap set of in-ear headphones such as you use on a I-pod and while the material was setting in my ears, inserted the earplugs and then when they were set, cut away the inside bits with a scalpel to reveal the headphone.

They work fine.

Sorry if that's a bit confusing but hope it helps.

Somewhere on YouTube there is a set of visual instructions on how to do it.

RobA.
