Anyone totally ditched there LC ESA for non ESA Wilbers?
Lets be honest the esa is a bit of a gimmick and clearly a piss poor one. so Im in the current dilemma. To Lukas for rebuild how long will they last? Or Wilbers Non ESA with minimum 5 years guarantee excellent quality built to spec and a known longetivity...🤷‍♂️
 
I had my suspicion proactively rebuilt by Denzo at 30000 miles.
Took me 5 years to do those miles (I have another bike too).
I reckon they will last at least another 5 years
The rear shock was rebuilt with a slightly bigger spring, better internals, and suits me perfectly
Happy with my decision 😁👍🏍️

Why not ask Lukasz?
 
Because I doubt he has ditched his esa for Wilbers non esa🤷‍♂️
He has, however, a lot more experience of suspension than anyone who has ditched, switched or had their unit rebuilt, by a long chalk.
 
I can vouch for Denzo - 45K miles on my rear shock of hard miles.
 
I fitted wilburs to my 2008 non ESA GS, it was a lot better than the ESA, I got a good comparison because I would take a demo GS as a loaner on each service and they never felt as nice as mine, I would say it was setup so that it was better handling than the ESA in Sport, but worked as well or better over bumps as the ESA in Road mode, so although no "on the fly adjustment" you did not really need that as the Wilburs worked over a wider range.

Just had my KTM 1290 serviced by T-tech and it seems really good, shock was just a re-fresh, but he changed oil levels in the forks as he said the air gap was too small as standard - the end result is a micer ride and feel.

Worth asking about what he does to the OE units, the costs and then making a decision, for a long term keeper the Wilburs might make more sense, but for shorter term the refurb will be cheaper and probably hold a better value on the bike as future buyers may prefer a functioning ESA over a warning light and non stock suspension?

T-Tech can adapt the suspension to suit your weight, riding style & needs. Unless you are at the BMW assumed average rider weight, you will not be in the zone they have designed it for.
 
T-Tech without question. Ask him about the build quality of Wilbers, you will be surprised.
 
Expensive AM shocks recommend a rebuild after 30K miles - I’d be confident of a Denzo shock to last at least twice that with normal riding.
It will also be made to your specifications.
 
Any suspension upgrade is better VFM than a chip/performance exhaust
However it takes some time to get it 100% spot on
On my second set of spring weights for my T700, going lighter than Ohlins initially recommended
 
Had Lukasz rebuild a couple of bikes suspension for me and it’s one of the best bits of coin you can spend.

He will also match the spring capacity to your weight and setup again big difference.

I would be rebuilding it’s a lot cheaper as well.
