Hi there. I'm looking for a tail bag to go over the rear luggage carrier (not pillion seat) on my '16 Triple Black. Could anyone offer any recommendations please? It just needs to carry enough stuff for a wekeend away and be optionally waterproof. The Touratech Ambata looks good, designed specifically for each bike, does anyone have one? I would link to their website but it quite often doesn't work for me...

Many thanks, ARH.

BMW Softbag Small or Large, excellent bits of kit and the base is tailored to fit the rack.

Second the Kreiga US series. Recently bought myself the US20 for use when the topbox is overkill for what I want carry.

I have the small BMW bag shown above in Fluffmeister's post which is really nice. I mount it on the rear seat, but I believe it sits well on the rack too. I can't seem to find the add photo button here at the moment so can't share a pic! :-( LBJ

I use a Kriega 30 ltr bag and think it's brilliant, get plenty of gear in it and it's totally waterproof.

Takes about a minute to put on and take off the bike

I have just ordered the new Kriega OS-12 for my GS Rallye. It has arrived at home but I haven't. Will check it out tomorrow when I get home. I used to have a US10 and a US20 and found the US10 a fraction too small for a long weekend and the US20 too big for what I needed. Both brilliant bags. I'm hoping the OS-12 will be perfect for 2 nights away. The main difference that I can see is that the OS range has a semi rigid rubberized base and is designed to go on a rear rack rather than on the seat. You can get OS18 too.

I have vario panniers for longer trips but like to travel light for weekends.

I will photograph it in situ when I get home and post it here.

Oh and I tried the BMW small softbag on my Rallye whilst it was in the showroom. I felt it was a bit too big for a tailbag and might as well have a top box which would afford you more security.

Thank you for the prompt repsonses and the pics. That BMW bag does look surprisingly big on your Rallye (nice bike BTW). Will do some more research in the week, like I say this is just for a weekend away thing, but I don't have any other luggage at the moment. Thanks all once again for taking the time to reply.

I second that and am more than happy to plug this UK company.

The Lomo stuff is extraordinary VFM and really well made, I've not used my Ortlieb bag since buying Lomo kit.

I use one of these for a weekend away fully waterproof and at only £30 it's amazing value.

Although I have BMW Aluminium panniers and topbox, I prefer using the Lomo bag it keeps the bike lite and stops me taking unnecessary sh#te

I also use one of these for longer trips

Wow - they look like cool bags and excellent value. I have the small GS tail pack which works really well on the passenger seat - with or without the top box in place.

The fantastic Kreiga OS-12 and both the BMW softbags ( large or small) can all be opened without taking them off the bike. No need to touch the securing straps at all.

The Ortleib/Lomo types will need you to undo the securing straps before accessing anything in the bag!

I know which set up worked better ........

Kriega OS-12 stuffed with a few bits and bobs (so not fully stretched to shape). Fits the GS rack well using the small two 'slots' at the rear for the rear buckles. Fits nice and secure and is exactly what I need for two nights away with basic clobber, road side repair kits hi viz vest etc.

I have vario panniers for longer tours and this can compliment them and/or be used for days out from lodgings without carting everything with me. A satisfied customer.

Thanks again everyone for the replies and pics. I like the look of the Kriega OS-12 and it's good to see it actually on a bike, so thanks for that. Does it come with all the straps needed to fit it securely to the bike? Thanks.

Yes it comes with the straps attached. I'm on the ferry on Friday to France for a couple of nights. I will let you know my opinion of it on my return. If you need bigger then there is always the OS-18.
