Crating my 1150 up on Monday, for shipping to NZ, obviously I have to drain the petrol tank. Is there a better way of doing it other than tipping it out through the filler neck?
I was afraid of that! Hate syphoning, always end up with several mouthfuls of petrol! Anyone know how fussy the shippers are about having the tank completely empty?

drain the tank by disconnecting the fuel hose, it'll leave a bit in the tank, but i've never had a problem shipping with petrol in the tank, just leave it half full, and i've shipped bikes to aus, canada, japan,
I couldn't get all of mine out - I took the tank off, removed the filler cap assembly etc etc - I also left it outside with the cap open, hoping it would evaporate (over the course of a week). Of course, in June, you may have better luck with this method than I did in January...

Seeing as I'm going to do the actual crating up myself, I don't think I'll worry too much, tip out what I cann while the tank's off to disconnect the battery, and leave it at that!

I find it evaporates far quicker with the careful use of a lighted match..........
