Then put a couple of bits of masking tape to set the position, remove the backer and fix them as quickly as possible.

Sikaslex 272 black " silicone" is a strong commercial grade adhesive. Use a few bits of thin double sided tape to act as a spacer and hold the pad while the adhesive cures.
