One of my daughters does some neat digital processing. She can usually create something off beat from a regular image. I gave her some of the standard marketing shots of the new GS and she had a quick play...

Clearly, a lack of interest in anything other than stock media images...

No problem for me, I will refrain from passing any comments along if that's OK, she's already being bullied at school and I don't want to make things worse.

well i think the pics are cool :beerjug:

if it makes you feel any better my stepdaughter was also bullied at school, i taught her kickboxing, a couple of detentions later :augie and the bullying stopped, you would be amazed how a hard smack in the mouth can teach a bully the error of their ways

dont take any comments on here to heart :comfort why do you think we call ourselves tossers :thumb

Thx PistolPete

I'm thick skinned myself and give out plenty so no complaints from me.

I must admit I'm slightly surprised to get a pretty harsh reaction. OK, hardly her best post-processing as she spent very little time and the raw images were standard marketing material. Some of her work from her own photography has won competitions with tens of thousands of entries so I know she has a knack for it...

The GS gang are clearly a little set in their ways and I'm new here so learning the ropes. The Ducati boys like a bit of flair, I guess the German attraction is a tad more industrial.

Regarding the bullying, it's a nasty problem and she is at a great school (private as well so you'd expect them to fix it quickly). She has now had physical grief, her locker broken into and nasty notes etc. She's also had grief on Facebook I think - hence me not wanting any more angst if she saw any comments here. She was excited about me getting the GS and we were just mucking around on the ipad when she did the images so not her usual digital processing software, just playing really.

Still, lesson learned and I will only post black and white, properly upright pictures of the new bike when it arrives.

It is an eye opener that people are quick to jump on a bandwagon and make hostile comments without any thought for the recipient - my fault for posting them but a lesson learned as I said. I'll keep the arty stuff for the Ducati forum:thumb

Well I like them, art is a very individual thing, don't let this put her off (even if you don't tell her) at this stage in her life she needs all the encouragement she can get. It's different and different it good.:thumb

Don't think there was any hostility, just plain piss-taking.

Hostile is when they come round and burn your shed!

You've posted in the technical. - try posting them in the photography section. :thumb

i like them ,as allways art is emotive,i think shes done a great job ,who knows ahere it will lead for her .
i remember developing my first black and white photos,it was like magic.
especially like the black and white one .
good job

I didn't really think this was purely the technical section for the bike, figured it was a general sub-forum for the new LC.

Anyways, as some have mentioned, art is very subjective. My study has a painting of a Ducati being ripped in half which is very "Giger" and print of Fogarty on the 996, both cool but I prefer the alien like Ducati to Foggy giving it full beans so I must have more left-brain (or right or whatever).

She's happy to take an image of someone and create something more individual (one of the new GS crowd has her work on his credit card now with the new personalised way you can do your plastic).

I might fight the piss takers with fire and simply include a GS-inspired piece on every post from now on...:pullface

Wonder how many of the art critics would have the first idea how to even open photoshop, let alone accomplish something worthwhile?

I like them.
