Tax Disc.....where to put it!!

Helmet

what about the tax disc?
dave gs.

I've mounted mine on the bolt which mounts the fusebox base to the frame, so every time you get on you can see it.

Mount mine on the bolt that attaches the exhaust to the frame.

Makes it visible enough if the Gards come looking.

Can I just say at this juncture that it is no longer the job of the rozzers to 'do' one for failing to display. As all tax discs are now computer recorded there is no need for the bobbies to have any interest. The days of the £30 ticket for failing to display went out years ago. The only reason a bobby will stop you nowadays if you dont have one on display ( and this generally apllies mostly to cars) is because most of the toe raggs who use cars and dont have a tax disc are generally uninsured etc etc. I keep mine in exactly the same posistion as that shown in the top photo and it is acceptable to the law enforcing plod. Believe me...I am Ze Law and you vill respect mah authoritay !!!!!:rob

You`ve completely, utterly, and comprehensively contradicted yourself within that post.

Lets see then - hands up ANYONE who has EVER been done for failing to display - or even knows someone who has

over 5000 on the site and I'll be surprised if i cant count the number on one hand :augie

Twas a long time ago, but a traffic warden left me a ticket on my ford escort for failing to display. Bloody expensive, after he DVLA hit me with a mitigating penalty (back-tax and a made up fine!)

More recently.... keep it on the exhaust hanger, by the left passenger footpeg. I did get one stolen during a Highland trip 3 year ago. Believe it was an overnight parking, whilst Hayseed Dixie were playing at Ullapool high school (or was it the village hall?)

Lucky people you. We don't have nice things like tax discs here in France. Come to think of it nor do we have MOTs on bikes.

Madman,

Not having an MOT sounds good, if you're mechanically competent. What if you're not, how many French bikes are death traps? Or is there a practice of stopping & checking out safety issues?

My tax disc is stuck on the inside of the screeen.

Excise Licence must be displayed forward of the rider whilst sat on the bike (with the rider in the correct riding position) on the left hand side of the machine.
Thats how it was explained to me on a 'Bike Instructor's course. Mine is displayed as per the first piccy.
Just out of interest wasn't someone nicked recently because their "disc" was placed upside down in the holder?
