Still not legal.....
Think somebody should tell the main dealers then!, as mine is left, middle of the bike “exactly” where they put it. Apart from me laminating it, I havnt touched it. Always had them there and always seen them there.
Think you might be getting confused with classic British bikes along with a number plate, lol.
FWIW mines in a holder mounted inside the loop of the nearside footrest hanger where one of the previous owners put it. And yes - a nice policeman did ask to see it once and was quite happy with where it was.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree....but, the offence is 'failing to display' and carries a £30 fine. Don't get me wrong, I 'serve' and don't always display.
Nope failing to display is a different offence to having an untaxed vehicle on the road
