tell me about your 1190

I have had my exhaust de-catted. The guy that did it took the system off in about 30 mins.

The de-cat has really helped with the heat. He's welded in a new section and you wouldn't know ..

Because the airflow is better, it seems to run a bit cooler.

(hill topped afterwards to protect against running lean .. )

I know I shouldn't be in here as an XR owner but on the subject of heat and Hilltop I noticed that Post Hilltop the bike does run cooler !I assume that is down to the better fueling and I also assume that the same would apply to A Hilltopped Girly KTM

I never found the heat an issue while in southern Spain last year on my S. Noticeable in traffic, but not a huge problem. Can't say I ever gave it much thought at the time.

My R does seem a bit hotter though. Still don't have any plans to fix it, but we'll see how it gets on in Portugal in July

Good to know - I guess at £70 to £80 I am happy to have play - cannot do any harm fitting the SA manifold and will if nothing else take some heat away from the rear shock ;)

It does seem quite a personal thing as for me it was a big problem on my R.

A lean engine will run hotter but TBH I noticed no difference on mine once Hilltop'd Redrick.

Those air deflectors look really good Paul and at that price it'd be silly not to try them - I actually prefer the looks to my Wings panels as they are less obtrusive and they're certainly a big improvement on the panels that came out when the SA was launched which I thought looked truly grim.

My experience (in hot weather) was that the warm seat/inside thigh was never an issue. All the heat was felt just above and below my knee. On the move I could feel it but it wasn't an issue. Slow traffic it was very noticeable but bearable. Stop/start/filtering city traffic was grim.
The Wings panels alone made a small but not significant improvement. The panels coupled with the extensive heat reflective matting supplied with the panels were a very big improvement (they run from the back of the tank to the rear seat latch). They got tatty after a while from frequent removal so I ordered some matting off eBay which is a lot thicker and this has all but sorted the issue completely. This was 'tested' in Spain last year, both in busy cities along with a fair bit of slow off-roading, I'm very pleased. Quite why the matting under the seat should make a difference around my leg god only knows :nenau

i might even fit one myself at that price. i thought they were a lot more than that. reports on ADVrider of $300 none apparently available anyway.

Hi Andres
Like you my reflective fabric from Wings has become tatty having been removed several times and I need to replace it. Could you provide a link to the material you used as a replacement please? I've checked out the net but didn't realise there'd be so many different types (and prices!) - would be good to know of a product that has been tested and worked!
Cheers

I was quite surprised too when I bought mine!

No probs, I'll post up the link when I get home tonight :)

Now Andres .. Now!! You need to sort yer bloody work / forum balance out a bit ...!

Seems cheap for the back header and will work loads better than ugly wrap.

Just dropped into Leisuretrail and back header is definitely £75.66 :D - unfortunately it is on back order until the end of July :blast

Have ordered one and will see if it ever turns up.

The seat air deflector kit is available and should be with me by early next week - so will try that in the mean time.

Interestingly - all the 2016 1050/1190/1290 adventures now have the air deflector kit fitted as standard but the 1050/1190 adventures still come with the old none insulated back header despite it now being shown on all the parts micro-fiche for those models and indeed the 2015's

I was planning on de-cating mine with a link pipe in place of the cat (combined with a Hilltop visit). Did yours make much of a difference re. noise levels Giles? I would like a bit more bark but not anti-social/piss off all and sundry (including myself).

get the full Akro race system and there is a map upgrade that goes with it included in the eye watering price

Akro race system is £2K – fuck that. The included map upgrade also increases fuel consumption horrendously (and runs really rich) by all accounts. I think I'll pass on that.

My pal has it on his, sounds lovely and fuel consumption is very reasonable and on par with my XR

But i do get the 2K and fuck that

Melch ...
It's pretty noisy! It's not the noise per se, it's the popping and banging on the overrun ! It's not too bad once the bike has warmed up, but first thing when the bike is still cold it doesn't half pop and gurgle when I shut the gas ...

It has started, the engine management system on my bike is Kaput, the shift light is stuck at the running in revs of 6500 and the dealer cannot reset it or turn it off, the think it might be one of the many computers in the bike, or maybe the clock assembly but as no fault codes show they are unsure...

...need it in for a while so they can talk to KTM about it, they reckon it will be fine for my 2,000 mile Euro trip....

...I do hope so, luck not on our side right now, went out for a pre-trip ride and a drunk driver smashed into the back of the Mrs at a roundabout, apologised showed me his insurance and seemed keen to leave, I mentioned his breathe seemed a bit off and asked him to hang around for the cops, he said he would just pull out of the road - and promptly legged it.

Now got two busted bikes a week before we leave, in fairness the TDM is mainly scuffs with the only real concern being if the wheel / Tyre could be damaged by the impact, I still have my money on the 8 year old 25,000 mile TDM that has just been run over by a van making it further than the brand new KTM.

Rasher

Sorry to hear about the hit and run - trust you got his registration number etc.

To be honest ref the shift light thing - I would not worry about it so long as nothing else is playing up. Just put a bit of tape over it and forget about it until Premier get round to finding a fix for it ;)
