tell me about your 1190

There is a massive thread on the 2014 model air box on Ad Rider.

Fixed, unlike the air box issue. :D

Saying that, my 2013 model hasn't sucked in any dirt. It seems to be those ridden in dusty climates like Aussieland, USA and Africa that are most affected. Still, shouldn't happen in any case.

I'd be pretty sure that all bikes will be affected the same, it's just more apparent on bikes ridden in dusty conditions as you can see the dust on the 'clean' side of the filter (and the consequences are obviously more serious on those bikes).

That's certainly my take on it.

KTM powerparts list a mod (availability TBA) for bikes used in dusty and sandy conditions

That sounds like the socks that fit over the intake snouts or are you referring to something else?

Andres

Or more likely a different filter arrangement, similar to over coming issues with the pathetic 690 air box where the top part could bow.

From what I've read up on the DNA filters they loose quite a bit of power, have I got that right?

Andres

Advrider has graphs showing some power loss with the uni filter*, especially if you fit the supplied intake socks, but it seems the DNA doesn't have this problem.

The Rottweiler kit improves power, and NKOTB powercell keeps it about the same.

*my arse dyno is not sufficiently well calibrated to register any loss.

Ah, my mistake, yes it was the Uni Filter I was thinking of - I take it you've fitted one? If so, any view on it yet?

reasonably easy to fit, but almost every panel at the front + the tank has to come off. it's also a bit of a tight fit in the slot inside the airbox, but i think that's what stops some of the leaking.

in use, i can't tell the difference with the stock item except i'm no longer concerned about dust and grit getting into the motor.

I got this far and then thought oooooo feck ... :)

Yee har ...!

Stop rubbing it in :dabone

I'm still saving for mine and given I can't seem to sell the Guzzi Outfit I'm probably gonna still be listening to one of the most pathetic exhaust notes ever foisted on a bike this side of a Tomos until well into next year.

Woe is me :tears

Andres

PS That looks lovely :)
