tell me about your 1190

Just fitted my Wings 'shorty' :)

The quality really is outstanding isn't it! and all dealings with Wings (including the panels I bought a while ago) have been spot on, Gorazd is a great guy to deal with :thumb2

Also, I'd not actually heard one before and feck does it sound good :)

That's it now, the bike's pretty much how I want her - the love affair continues.....................

Andres

So.......surely the next step is to film a short video to share the soundtrack.....;)

I decided to put the larger baffle in Andres. My place has a three / four cottages all fairly close together and first thing in the morning it seems pretty loud!
The larger baffle seems to have made bugger all difference though :D

Give me time............ :)

You mean the 'smaller' one I think, the large one is supposed to be noisier but yeah I get your drift :thumb2 I think I'll go to work on it tomorrow even though it's wet, grey and 'dirty' out there, can't wait to hear it properly - oh and I leave home at 6am :D

See; Hippy Boy votes green, drinks herbal tea, dresses to the left .... and cares feck all for his neighbours .... :D

'' ...locally sourced....''

You tart ....

1290 Heatshield???

At the bike show and noticed the 1290 had an infill panel just behind the riders leg. I asked on the stand if it would fit an 1190 and was it for the heat issue. No one knew. That part of the frame looked the same to me. 1290 superadventure.jpg

This is not from the NEC, but you can clearly see it. Could be an interesting purchase in 2015 when it becomes available

There was some kind of bracket at the back of the footrest hanger that they were fixed to.
Looked very simple to fit, and no where near as expensive as some of the after market ones being offered.

Had the first chance to have a proper hoon today since fitting the DNA and Wings and its defo made a difference to how the engine wants to spin up, I wasn't expecting that so I'm pleasantly surprised. I miss the air box growl at 4k though as I can't hear it over the exhaust any more :D

The roads were well greasy dirty and I can also confirm that the traction control works :D The back and sides of the bike are absolutely filthy though so not sure how a pillion would have faired?

Gratuitous picture of my bike follows :)

Good stuff Andres ...

I have next Wed - Fri off so may well put some more miles down.

For your peace of mind, after I put my wings on I had the 600 mile service. They ran the bike on the dyno at my request and told me the A/F mix was pretty much as standard and they had no concerns. (I will probably still hilltop it though .... ) :thumb2

I'm liking the look and the reviews of the TKC70's when these conti's are shot .....

That’s good to know that the bike’s not running lean especially as you’ve removed the ‘cat’. Being purely selfish I hope you do go and see Geoff as although I’m unlikely to go down that road I’m really interested to see what he can do with the 1190. Are you planning on doing anything about the air filter?

I’ve also been wondering about the TKC70’s and contacted Continental a few weeks ago re 21” availability, they reckoned 21’s will be in the dealers by early spring. What I’ve read about them all seems positive except for the odd comment about vagueness at speed when loaded up They look similar to Heidi K60s which I’ve run before on the GS and they did the same, no big deal though once you got used to it.

Having said all that I’m doing the Taffy Dakar, that I mentioned to you, in Easter and will probably end up fitting TKC80’s…………………..we’ll see, decisions, decisions.

Ooh, ooh, me sir, please. I was planning on doing this with my brother but he hasn't got suitable wheels currently so has pulled out and I am a Taffy Dakar Billy no mates at the mo. Space for a small one perchance? :augie

Excellent - sounds like a plan :)

I'm doing it with 2 others for defo and pos 3 or 4 - depending on numbers we can split up into a number of teams........ I'm sorting some stuff before Christmas and will drop you a line and we can take it from there :thumb2

Great stuff, thanks Andres. Put me down for the 'Doesn't know the first thing about orienteering and can't ride off road for shit' – group please.

.............and that sir pretty much sums up the combined abilities of the rest of us so you won't be made to feel out of place :thumb

Fitted bar risers today (courtesy of Rob J) and for a tweek so subtle, it's made a really good improvement. I like a kink in my arms. Arms can be like little steering dampers and the straighter they are, the more that tight damping can kick in and cause you tension and tightness in the bikes handling.

Good cheap, real world useful farkle .... :thumb2

Following on from bar risers, which I also find make a big difference, another mod I've done on most of my bikes is to fit Pivotpegz. I like the big footprint, grip and the pivot action really seems to make a tangible difference :)

Anyhow........I've just fitted some and as ever am dead chuffed with them. However, for all my other bikes I've bought them second hand but with the 1190 being relatively new I couldn't find any so bit the bullet and bought new (they're not cheap). I've subsequently found out that they fit ANY KTM (or Husaberg) :blast So a bit of a heads up if you fancy trying them and want to go second hand :beerjug:

Ooooooo ....! (I agree the standard pegs are a bit narrow .... )
